I have over 10 years experience working on a desktop computer, using Word, WordPerfect, MS Publisher and other general software for home & office use. I'm familiar with many kinds of recreational software, such as for CD & DVD burning, ripping and creating MP3 files. My general computer knowledge also includes using digital cameras, scanners, mp3 players, laser printers, inkjet printers and drawing tablets. For my formal education, I have an AA degree in Computer Science from Shasta College. I've tutored for brand new computer users, starting from the basics and have helped them learn how to do whatever they want to know about their computers. I enjoy working one-on-one with students.
I'm also experienced with a wide variety of specialty software: Family Tree Maker (genealogy), QuiltPro 5 (quilting), Electric Quilt 5 & 6 (quilting design), Patternmaker 4 (machine cross stitch design) and other craft related software. I'm very Internet savvy, with knowledge of basic website design & maintenance, searching and researching, as well as shopping and selling on the Internet through websites such as eBay and Amazon.
I'm a professional quilt artist, quilt designer, author, teacher and judge. My lifelong career has been the art of quiltmaking, with experience in sewing & crafts for over 30 years. I teach, lecture and judge throughout the United States and have taught twice in Japan. I'm the author of two books on quiltmaking techniques and self-publish a line of quilt patterns and e-patterns, besides running an Internet business selling quilt books and patterns worldwide. I learned how to sew clothing when I was in grade school and I continue to make garments when needed, for every day wear and special occasion. In the summer, I judge all Home Arts divisions in County Fairs throughout the North State. Besides quilts, this includes clothing (senior, junior, 4-H), crafts and needlework of all kinds. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I use MS Publisher 2007 to write and design my own self-published patterns which I sell through my website. I create flyers and brochures to promote my business, as well as business cards and address labels. I have worked in earlier versions of Publisher, as well as Word and have been using desktop publishing programs for over 15 years.

I've used MS Office 2007 for personal and business for many years, so I can teach you about it and I can help you with how it works.
I can provide kits, if requested. I have been embroidering, cross stitching and crocheting since I was a child. I have taught both right- and left-handed people how to embroider, cross stitch and crochet. I am very familiar with many other forms of needlework, such as rug hooking, needlepoint, knitting, macrame and paper crafts. I have judged needlework and sewing at county fairs for several decades, so I know what the correct methods are for achieving perfection and winning ribbons.
