Santiago Canyon College (Mechanical Engineering)
I am currently a college student at Santiago Canyon College studying Mechanical Engineering. Ever since I was young, science and math subjects have been the peak of my interest because of how life around us obeys by the invisible rules set by them. As I grew older, I realized many people don't understand or don't value the magic of numbers the way I do. That's when I realized I could make a difference in people's lives by reaching out to them and helping them understand the concepts of math.
I embarked on a journey to bring understanding of these core concepts to people who may need it or benefit from what I have already mastered. I have been tutoring for over 3 years now, whether it be my own siblings, for a franchise company, or my own private tutoring on the side. The joy I get from seeing someone slowly start to understand these ideas that were once so vague and difficult, is priceless to me because I was once in the very same situation. Being stuck between confusion and discomfort is not a happy place to be for someone aspiring to do well in school and later on in life. At any moment when I get the chance to make a difference in somebody's life, I would not hesitate to take it and turn the situation around for the better.
Being in school for a very math-based major has really helped keep my skill sharp in the subject as well as tutoring for many math subjects too. I have been in college long enough to take every calculus course available and pass. I started College taking Pre-Calculus, moved on to calculus 1, 2 and 3.
And currently enrolled in differential equations and Linear algebra. I have been tutoring for about 3 years now. the 2 most recent years have been for a company called Mathnasium which specializes in 1st-12th grade mathematics, including geometry, pre-calculus, pre-algebra, algebra 1&2, and everything elementary an middle school. I also spent a semester at my college campus as a Supplemental Instructor for College Algebra, helping students with any homework or test questions they may have had after every class meeting, twice a week. I have also been a private tutor for the previous year for multiple Algebra 1&2 for friends and family and people discovered by word of mouth.
After many years of tutoring and teaching students new subjects and topics, I have definitely narrowed down my style of teaching to a way which makes it easier to understand, and I also adapt very quickly to different students learning curves. Since no two people in the world are exactly alike, I have learned that each and every students learns in very different ways too. I also have a very flexible schedule so we can work around any activities or school time to achieve the best progress in shortest amount of time. Feel free to contact me with any questions you might come up with and I'll be more than happy to answer. I am currently a college student at Santiago Canyon College studying Mechanical Engineering. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I'm a college student for a mechanical engineering major, so by experience an algebra expert, and a quick learner. I've been a tutor and a lead instructor for over a year at Mathnasium which includes algebra 1.
I have been in many calculus classes that use algebra 2 on a daily bases as a college student.
I was a math tutor for 3 years, college student for 4 years, and excellent communication skills with students of all ages.
I have tutored many math subjects throughout the years and geometry has been by far my favorite and well taught by myself. I am an engineer major myself, so these concepts are always with me and the explanations come even more naturally to me when i work with students.
