University of Maryland
Hello, my name is Warren and I am a recent college graduate out of University of Hawaii, having transferred after two years at the University of Maryland. I graduated with a BS in Microbiology and a certificate in Spanish. Having three brothers, I had experience both receiving and giving help growing up, and this experience carries over to my students. I have been involved in tutoring and assistant teaching throughout high school and college, and do not have any one specific method of teaching. I like to work through a few problems that the student is having trouble with so we can both identify the problem, and eventually find ways to fix it.
I am also offering coaching in basketball and golf, two sports I played competitively at Washington International School, and continued to play recreationally in college. I played on the club golf team at UMD and won a championship on the MAPGA junior division. Taking about 3 years worth of weekly lessons with coach Wayne Defrancesco gave me a lot of knowledge on the full golf swing, putting, chipping, and pitching, as well as the mental game.
I also offer piano lessons for beginners. I took lessons starting from a young age, and can teach how to read music, and how to use different scales to improvise.
I usually assign some homework after each lesson, the amount depending on when my next visit will be. I try to give out an amount of work that fits my student's schedule appropriately. In terms of travel, I generally don't mind traveling up to ten miles, but am willing to meet at libraries or cafes to study as well. Warren did a great job tutoring me as he better explained each thing in an easier way for me to better understand it. Warren was also easy to get in contact with and he was able to get me in his schedule last minute which I really appreciate.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I've played basketball for my middle school and high school teams, and have a nice background of the fundamentals. Camps attended included Gary Williams basketball camp, and Bullis Basketball Camp.

5 years of periodic weekly lessons with certified and well known pro Wayne Defrancesco provide me with extensive knowledge on the full iron swing, the driver swing, as well as pitching, chipping, and putting.
