Sonoma State University (Women's and Gender Studies)
I have been tutoring through Wyzant since 2010. I hold a Bachelor's degree from Sonoma State University with a major in Women's and Gender Studies and a minor in Anthropology. I am certified as an ESL teacher through Bridge-Linguatec's 100 hour TEFL program, and I spent one year in Taiwan as an English teacher. My main class consisted of 6-8 year old kids, and we did many fun activities like science experiments and art projects. I tutor in the subjects of math (up to pre-algebra) and English (reading/writing/grammar). There is nothing I love more than seeing students' grades and confidence rise through one on one sessions. Personal attention outside of the classroom can make a significant difference in a child's academic performance. Please feel free to contact me if you are looking for a dedicated tutor to help! Courtney was so helpful, nice, patient, and smart. She helped me improve my math and vocabulary skills for the ASVAB test. Thanks Courtney!!
Courtney a bright young lady who has been a great help for my daughter, she felt very comfortable with her from the time she started 2 years ago. I like to thank her personally for tutoring her.
Courtney was a wonderful tutor, so much so that my son felt he had enough information that he could successfully pass the math portion of his GED Exam. Without Courtneys assistance I don't think he would have the confidence to complete the rest of the exam. Thank you Courtney.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
This is the subject which I most frequently tutor for. I have worked with at least 20 students in pre-algebra, and it is also my favorite subject to work with. Over the last five years, I have come to recognize similar patterns that stumble students, and with this experience I am able to improve the way I help them tackle these difficulties.
