Working from a strengths-based approach to learning, I can help students build confidence in Writing and College Preparation. I love working with students of all ages, but I hold a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential. Most recently I have served as an Assistant Professor of Education in the Counseling Department at PLNU, where we focused on helping professionals design and implement practices and programs that help students succeed. Prior to working at the graduate school level, I was a teacher and school counselor. My passion for education has led me to work on a PhD in Higher Education Leadership, which I plan to use to assist individuals and school systems to design and implement innovative initiatives in schools. Tutoring allows me the opportunity to work one-on-one with students while working on my doctorate. Being a “lifelong learner”, the students will see that while I am their teacher I am also a student. Having experience as an educator and a parent, I know that if our children learn to love learning, they will feel more motivated and confident in school.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
