University of California, Irvine (International Rtls)
I am a recent graduate from the University of California, Irvine. I received my BA with honors in International Studies, and a minor in Global Cultures. Throughout my academic career, I have held both tutoring and teaching positions - working with both high school and collegiate students alike. At the university level, I served as an undergraduate teaching assistant for the university's model united nations course (a two unit course available for all majors). As a T.A., I had to create a curriculum, a syllabus, a midterm, a final, and a course study guide for my students. Here, I developed the necessary skills to be an effective teacher both inside and outside of the classroom - I coached students with their public speaking, proofread their position/policy papers, and overall, strengthened their confidence. As a tutor, I hope to instill students with the necessary mechanisms to become effective writers.
In addition to my collegiate background, I also have vast experience in tutoring students from K - 12. As a high school student and as a college student, I worked with disadvantaged students in the areas of reading, writing, English, and elementary math. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have been a member of Model United Nations for 8 years and running - serving a wide array of positions ranging from Class Director to Board Member. Today, Model UN guides students through several important facets: public speaking (speeches, improve, and public decision making), world history, and writing (constructing appropriate resolutions and policy papers). As both a student and teacher of MUN I have the ability to teach and invoke confidence in students.
