About Gregg

I discovered a talent for teaching during my time at Cal Poly Pomona as an engineering major. While working towards my graduation as valedictorian and summa cum laude, I found many of my classmates struggling with their assignments. I soon developed a reputation for my ability to walk them through their difficulties.

During this time I began tutoring math, from high-school through adult ages. I have since helped many students from diverse backgrounds and educational needs achieve success in their studies. My tutoring style is friendly, yet directed. I do my best to make our time working together count. And I am extremely good at identifying problem areas and working with students to strengthen them. I have a unique gift for clearly explaining concepts and methods, and outlining step-by-step approaches to problems that greatly aid student understanding. If math is giving you any problems, I am here to help.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I've helped many algebra 1 students earn higher grades, become more confident in their abilities, and even grow to enjoy the subject. Almost anyone can excel in algebra with the right instruction and encouragement, and I'm here to provide both.

Algebra 2

I have a complete mastery of the subject, and have worked with many algebra 2 students to help them understand difficult concepts and develop step-by-step methods to arrive at problem solutions. Whatever problems you're facing in Algebra 2, I can help pave your way to a better grade.

Calculus

I received straight A's in all 3 levels of calculus, and was awarded a Boeing math scholarship based on my performance in multivariable calculus. In high school I received a 5 on the calculus AP exam. I have tutored many students, both high school and college level, in the subject. My approach is to impart clear paths towards problem solutions, while reviewing and strengthening any core ideas in need of reinforcement. I also work with my students to develop effective study strategies, especially crucial for good performance in calculus.

Geometry

I've tutored math for over 4 years, with students ranging from junior high through college ages. In high school I received a 5 on the AP calculus exam, and won a Boeing math scholarship in college. I have a friendly, patient and focused tutoring style that helps my students succeed in their studies.

Precalculus

I've tutored math for over 4 years, with students ranging from junior high through college ages. In high school I received a 5 on the AP calculus exam, and won a Boeing math scholarship in college. I have a friendly and patient approach, and proven improvement in student performance.

Trigonometry

I've tutored many students in trigonometry, with excellent results. Many of my students end up with high grades, even those who initially come to me in bad shape. Most recently I've helped a college trigonometry student turn his failing grade into a B, over the course of 2 months. My tutoring style is focused, friendly, and patient, and my math expertise is backed up with my receipt of Valedictorian in electrical engineering from a top university as well as the single highest Boeing math scholarship awarded during my time in community college. If you're looking for the unique combination of an impeccable skill set and the rare ability to communicate it with clarity and encouragement, then don't hesitate to get in contact.

He's great. He has a gift. A great teacher - he helps, but our daughter does the work. He teaches practical knowledge. Our daughter told us that in school she learns how to do the problems, but Gregg taught her why it works. It was like a little previously unknown world opening for her and she saw something beautiful in Algebra. Gregg responds right away to texts, shows up on time, is kind and ene
