I am set to graduate in June, 2016, and am looking to gain tutoring experiences before I finish my program. I am most comfortable with the K-5 curriculum, particularly English Language arts, which includes: reading, writing, grammar, and phonics. I decided to go into the field of teaching because I thrive on watching my students accomplish goals. But what really drew me into this field was my personal educational experience. I struggled in school for most of my upper elementary and middle school years, but made a complete turnaround when I entered high school. I know first hand what it feels like to be the "dumb" kid in class, to not comprehend what the teacher is teaching, to hate homework, to fail tests, and to feel like nobody believes in you. Nothing motivates me more than the opportunity to help a struggling student build self-confidence, succeed in their academics, and grow to love learning!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
