A common misconception about the ACT science section is that it is primarily a test of scientific knowledge. It is not. Rather, it is a language and logic quiz involving scientific content. You do not need an above average background in science to do well on this part of the test. If you can make sense of tables and graphs and learn to "deconstruct" the section's language games, you can do well on ACT science! I have 5+ years of experience tutoring ACT science. In that time, I've helped hundreds of students achieve above average score gains. I've done so by enabling them to see past the superficial complexity of the material. The passages and questions in the ACT science section often contain extraneous, highfalutin language that masks their true simplicity. I teach students to ignore the *noise* and get to the heart of the matter. The results speak for themselves!
