UC Santa Cruz (Journalism)
My love of photography and music as a child drove and guided my education towards journalism so that I may pursue a career documenting live arts. With a degree in journalism/communications and a minor in photography from UC Santa Cruz I was able to do just that. My career in music journalism started with a music column for the SF Examiner covering concerts and shows in the south San Francisco Bay and central California coast from 2008 to 2012. I moved on from the Examiner to become and independent photographer covering live events, from concerts to food & wine events and private occasions.
I have tutored a fair number of photography writing students prior to joining WyzAnt. I have helped a select few individuals with business management and with launching their own independent photography businesses. With the experience of running my own photography and graphic design business I feel I can provide essential and critical aide for those individuals who are seeking to obtain a career in photography or journalism.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Photography is more than a career for me, it is a definite passion. I am a collaborator and a sharer of knowledge and it would be my pleasure to continue to help young photography students to refine their craft. I took my first professional photo gig with a skateboard company at the age of 16 and have not looked back ever since. I would be proud to share my professional experience as a photographer to help guide the path of newly professional photographer.
