About Kia

If you value commitment and determination, you will appreciate my near twenty years of military discipline, coupled with an enthusiasm for students, learning and teaching. I have held substitute teaching certifications in both California and Arizona, both while maintaining a home-based business as a Professional Organizer.

This current full-time substitute teacher would love to work one-on-one with your child or student. When not teaching in the schools, I teach the skills of organization as a Professional Organizer. I have a special segment on organizing for students since I work with them on a regular basis. Being on a facet of sides of a child's/student's life - parent, teacher, organizer, gains me unique insight into valuable ways and techniques that seem to work and make me a favorite among my students.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

Sound schooling in the New York City Public school system. Attended high school at the nationally acclaimed, Bronx High School of Science where an entrance exam and high achievement were necessary. Attained B.A. in Law and Justice. After spending nineteen years in the U.S. Air Force and achieving officer status, has now directed efforts to the passion of students and student development. Operates now as a Professional Organizer and substitute teacher for all school subjects. Stays active and up to date on school studies and school curriculum as a learning coach for two virtual schooled children of my own.

English is one of my favorite subjects.

Dynamic and passionate for our future leaders’ success, I believe that disciple and accountability are key skills for student organization and student learning. And with a little twist of some fun and intrigue, we can add to our children’s learning!

AFOQT

Sound schooling in the New York City Public school system. Attended high school at the nationally acclaimed, Bronx High School of Science where an entrance exam and high achievement were necessary. Attained B.A. in Law and Justice. After spending nineteen years in the U.S. Air Force and achieving officer status, has now directed efforts to the passion of students and student development. I have taken the AFOQT and remember what a "stresser" this one can be! While not an "ace" in every testing area, let someone who has taken it, and passed, all the way to Air Force officer guide you in some tips!

Algebra 1

I have been called in to take over math class/Algebra, by principals needing someone with the skills to substitute in, for 3-6 months at a time. I promoted an 8th Grade math class, and have taken over for a freshman, high school math and Algebra class.

Dynamic and passionate for our future leaders’ success, I believe that disciple and accountability are key skills for student organization and student learning. And with a little twist of some fun and intrigue, we can add to our children’s learning!

ASVAB

Having been a member of the Armed Forces myself for over 18 years, I remember this test well and scored relatively high, even in fields I was not interested in, or did not know I had an aptitude for. Let someone who has experienced the ASVAB help you on your way to achieving high scores for this testing.

CBEST

I, myself have taken and passed the CBEST. After passing, I worked on an emergency teaching permit that allowed for a long term teaching assignment upwards of 6 months and also teach for the state of Arizona, as well.

Criminal Justice

My love of the law was first sparked in high school when I had the opportunity for Constitutional Law as an elective. From there I have intertwined paralegal studies, court reporting and finally a BA in Law and Justice. I have been employed as a paralegal both in the civilian sector, as well as the military sector. Employment where I have used my Pre-law studies have ranged from single practitioners (lawyers), to the Attorney General's office.

Prealgebra

I have 9 years as a multi-subject, Substitute Teacher for Yuma School District 1 and Yuma High School District.

Study Skills

I am a professional organizer and am trained in providing those with solution systems and the tools for putting function back into their lives.

I am also a substitute teacher, so I am used to working with students during long term assignments, in organization their desks, material, and notebooks to effectuate better organization habits to produce better work results.
