Bio

Hi, I'm Ian.

I began my postsecondary schooling at Pima Community College in 2014 and transferred with an honors scholarship through Phi-Theta Kappa. I earned an honorable mention for maintaining a 4.0 GPA through three and a half years of college, and graduated Summa Cum Laude with only one "B" on my entire transcript.

In 2016, I became a member of an additional honors society through the University of Arizona: Golden Key International. I received my Bachelor's of Arts in English and Creative Writing with a focus on non-fiction from the University of Arizona in 2018. In addition to academic success, I was published in two editions of SandScript magazine, The Mochila Review, The Voices Project, and featured as a guest speaker for a Casa de los Ninos book drive. Some of my special areas of knowledge include developmental psychology, gender studies, Africana, Chicana, Israeli, Asian, and border studies, as well as environmental science, philosophy, and linguistics.

After a short time in the private sector, I began training with Pima Community College to obtain post-baccalaureate certification in elementary education. I am expected to be teaching, full-time, in a K-8 setting around August 2022. The reason I have dedicated myself to elementary education is because I recognize how fostering an academic mindset early on ensures lifelong success and the hope of posterity. As a lifelong learner myself, I am currently challenging myself to learn electric guitar, speak Spanish, and better support my wonderful Fiancée, Diana. As your tutor, I am committed to providing a creative, friendly, and adaptable environment that works best for you. The work we put in together, today, will ensure you are ready for a successful future tomorrow. I look forward to serving and celebrating you and your community whether you're in primary school or a Senior in college.

Thank you for your time,
Ian Macfarland
