In High School I graduated with the National Honor Society. At Pima Community College I graduated with Phi Beta Kappa Honors. I understand many international cultures due to extensive travel. I look forward to helping any student improve in their studies.
ESL/ESOL students I treat with special care. Learning English is a challenge for the international student since they are not familiar with the phonetic combinations of letters in English. I help them feel comfortable by listening. I give work at first to see what the student is able to comprehend. I then tailor the lesson according to their ability, all the while encouraging them to do a little more.
In Tucson, I taught both the Hispanic Community and African Community ESL. As I travelled abroad, I taught ESL in Robledo de Chavella, Spain, about 30 miles from Madrid. The population of students ranged from 5 years old to 88.
I am a professional Singer, Songwriter, Guitarist. and Voice Tutor. I have sung all my life in school choirs, and churches, restaurants, military clubs, festivals, and World Peace Events. I played professionally across America and in South Korea, Spain, Italy. I had a band in New York City and New Jersey called Providence. I helped establish a school in Landover Hills, Maryland, when I was Councilwoman called New Hope Academy. It is still standing strong and we created a full dance studio in the school. It covers preschool 3-K. I volunteered and taught choir and voice to grades K-8 at that time. We created a CD with original hits from my children's album "In the Park" and performed the songs in a local theater.
I love helping students open up to the music world, and will work with a recording artist they find interesting, as that helps them gain interest to begin their music journey. For guitar, there will be many chords to learn as with any music foundation.
I am a professional artist. I learned that most of us have the ability to paint or draw but have not been trained how to look at the subject when we are painting or drawing. I enjoy teaching the process where to start, where to look, what to focus on , etc. The medium I love is acrylic paint, as it flows and has no fumes. I have won many awards for my art in professional Art juried shows. My art has traveled throughout our state in galleries, cafes, and stores. There is no age limit, I will adjust the sessions to the person's ability and attention span.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
