Hi! Thank's for looking at my profile! My name is Alex and I am a Japanese tutor focusing on JLPT exams and conversational Japanese. Too often I see Japanese textbooks and learning websites focusing on formal and strict Japanese. In actuality, the Japanese language can be quite flexible and casual. From the JLPT N3 level and higher, the exams start to break away from this textbook form and become strongly based around colloquial Japanese. However, students and self-studiers alike get choked up and stuck at this level. This is what I aim helping my students overcome.
I have lived in Japan for a collective 2 years has well as been formally learning Japanese for 6 years. My tutoring will strongly focus on how to speak Japanese in casual to semi-casual settings, as well as preparing students for the various sections of the JLPT at whatever level they would like to strive for. I also have a very extensive knowledge of kanji (1500+) and would gladly help those who need to improve their reading and writing.
As far as teaching experience goes, I used to tutor Japanese at the Universality of Arizona, and while living in Japan I would teach English to native Japanese and English to foreigners. My style of teaching is very relaxed and casual, keeping up at whatever pace the student wants.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
