About Audra

Hello students and fellow parents!

My name is Audra, I am 46, and I am currently a substitute school teacher. I have been subbing for five years now. I hold the following degrees: Bachelor's in Business Management and a Master's in Business Administration. I have two school aged children that will be 13 and 16 this year.
Most of my time subbing is for Special Education (SPED) but I also sub for grades Pre-K through 12th for every subject in the current curriculum. I am very patient and will determine the best method to use in order to get great results. I hold myself to the very highest standard when it comes to education no matter what age or grade level. So you can be assured that you or your child(ren) will receive the very best quality. You always hear "There is more than one way to skin a cat", I prefer "There are several paths to take, they will all lead to the same outcome". Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you might have. I look forward to meeting you and your parents and lets not forget Grandma and Grandpa. I can't wait to meet you all. Have a wonderful day.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Business

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Business Management and a Master's degree in Business Administration. I have managed a small box retail store. I was the Executive director at Springerville/EagarChamber of Commerce. I was responsible for everything from managing businesses to planning events and marketing.

Cooking

I started cooking when I was 10 years old. In the kitchen with my mother as long as I can remember. I enjoyed cooking so much that I took every Home Economics class that I could while in school. I know how to read recipes as well as nutritional labels. Later in life I took a position with Safeway in their Deli department. Slicing meats and cheeses, making fruit and vegetable platters, frying chicken, making various "made-to-order" sandwiches, salads and even talking to customers during food demos. I currently hold a State of Arizona Food Handlers Card and I am very familiar with safety issues as well as knowledgeable on the cleanliness of washing and drying "dishes"(keeping all surfaces germ and bacteria free) and not cross contaminating cooking utensils, hands and surfaces.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have been a substitute teacher since 2011. I cover every subject in every grade. I was honored by my last school district last year with a District Service Award.

Handwriting

I grew up during a time when cursive handwriting was taught in the school systems. Before you can write in cursive you must be able to print neatly, otherwise your cursive will look just as poor as your handwriting. I also was taught Calligraphy. I have taken cake decorating classes where I was taught cursive handwriting once again in order to write things on birthday cakes, etc.

QuickBooks

I have been using QuickBooks in one way or another for the last 17-18 years. I am proficient at starting up a new business and making entries to bring in inventory, making sales invoices to document inventory flow, entering payments against those sales invoices. I am proficient in both Account Receivables and Accounts Payable. I can generate checks and create a check log to track outgoing checks and incoming payments. I am capable of preparing the system for end of year sales and carry over of payments still unaccounted for.

Sewing

I started sewing when I was 10 years old. At the sewing machine with my mother as long as I can remember. I enjoyed sewing so much that I took every Home Economics class that I could while in school. I know how to read patterns as well as the requirements for fabric and various materials. Around the same age my mother taught me how to do Counted Cross Stitch. I love that she taught me this valuable skill because you can use the same technique to sew on a missing button!!!! I have personally made my own clothing, various nick knacks and accessories, clothes for dolls, curtains, patching holes in almost anything--you name it.

Special Needs

I have been a substitute school teacher for 5 1/2 years. In the last 134 days I have taught 10% of Special Education classes. I personally have two children who were diagnosed with ADHD before their 4th birthdays. I have the knowledge and patience to work in the MILD SPED classroom. I have been an assistant in the SEVERE SPED classroom but only as an assistant. I have full command of the English language and I am proficient in reading, writing and communication skills. I am confident that I would make a difference in a child's life.

Study Skills

I have been a substitute school teacher for 5 1/2 years. I am familiar with following prepared lesson plans as well as making my own lesson plans when necessary. I work with children of ages (yes, that includes adults). Study skills is just that it is a skill. To get better at a skill you have to practice it. Putting good study habits and skills in place will prepare children (and adults) for their upcoming futures.
