University of Chicago (Master's)
My name is Elizabeth and I can help you or your child achieve success in English or writing. I recently graduated from the University of Chicago with a Master's in Philosophy (I majored in philosophy as an undergraduate at McGill University in Canada).
I have experience tutoring students one-on-one in critical thinking, expository writing, and English as a Second Language. In addition to tutoring experience, I have also worked as an ESL teacher, teaching assistant, and community college instructor.
I will bring my high level of patience and devotion to helping those who struggle to enable you to work towards your own success. I tend towards an empowering and nurturing approach towards tutoring that boosts the student's self-esteem and encourages them to believe in their capacity for academic excellence.
I look forward very much to meeting you!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
