I have extensive experience in using and teaching individuals working in the field in the basic procedures of accounting for keeping records. I have trained individuals just beginning in the field as well as those who wish to increase their knowledge. In order to apply accounting in actual jobs, one must learn the correct entries to make to record the specific transactions; without the knowledge of proper procedures, most entries will not be correct.
I also have the knowledge and skills to show anyone how to use financial documents and how to apply basic financial skills to prepare the information provided in the financial statements. This practical knowledge shows a student not only the fundamentals of finance but also how these skills can be used in jobs. Those jobs can be actually using the formulas to prepare the analysis or they can be jobs where managers need to understand the information provided by the accounting department so that they can use it to improve department performance or make new budgets for example.
I have about 3 years of applied training experience. I taught two bookkeepers the proper way to prepare journal entries to make adjustments to the general ledger. I showed them how to reconcile the reports being processed to make sure there
were no problems. I showed each one the correct way to reflect unusual transactions and how to make sure that the balance changed accordingly. One bookkeeper had difficulties understanding the basic functions, so I worked out another way to help
her understand the basis of bookkeeping and the proper use of debits and credits. The first bookkeeper readily absorbed the knowledge, so I gave her higher accounting responsibilities and showed her how to keep accounts reconciled on a regular basis. Training each person has to be applied individually as everyone does not learn at the same rate. Donna knows how to teach. She quickly assessed my need, level of computer ability and goals. She accepted All my limitations including not mastering what she was teaching me; rather her goal was to help me feel competent and have real skills I could find again once the session was over. She has good life experience with her field. I realized a tutor is necessary when you "think" you can do something but really can't. And feel guilty because you can't. Best way is to get a tutor and check out what you actually know against what they know. Revealing. And Donna was great.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a college degree in business administration. My experience takes the education and applies it to everyday business subjects like accounting, marketing, production. I give specific examples of how the business concept will apply to the problem sited. Then we can discuss how to solve the problem.
I have been a member of Fountain Flyers Toastmasters for over 6 years. I have earned a Competent Communicator designation as well as a Advanced Communication Bronze recognition. Part of the program is to mentor newer speakers where I listened to prospective speeches and gave suggestions on how it might be improved.
I have been using QuickBooks program for over 10 years to create, implement, and maintain records for different companies. I can make invoices and input cash receipts payments; as well as reconcile the bank statements. I have trained staff members in how to input journal entries; the styles for each person were different as each one had a difference concept of the work required. I have assigned and assisted one bookkeeper in how to keep inter-company accounts reconciled.
