Hi, I am a professional tutor and mental health therapist trained in neurobiology and neuropsychology. This has given me access to the latest research and the ability to translate what I learned to maximize each session with my students. Using this research, I have designed and tested games and activities that speed up learning, improve memory and inspire confidence, some of which are being used in Tucson classrooms. I tutor all grade levels in most subject areas. I can also help with low self esteem, test and general anxiety, lack of organization, difficulty with time management, struggles with communicating effectively, and a lack of motivation. I have specialized training in supporting students who struggle with dyslexia, autism, ADD and ADHD, generalized anxiety disorder, and depression.
Learning can become fun again as your child gains confidence in themselves as a student and as a person! It is always a great joy to me to watch my students break through the barriers in front of them as they start to understand what has always been challenging, then watch as their grades improve, and finally, often end up helping the kids in their class. Tutoring is a worthwhile investment for any parent who wants their child to thrive rather than to just survive school.
I have been able to help many families turn around even the worst situations by teaching the student new skills for approaching learning. If your student is anxious, unmotivated, is struggling with a learning disability, lacks study/test taking skills or has fallen behind, let me help get them back on track. I have been teaching children and adults for over ten years using my natural abilities, my education, and professional training. I see each person as an interesting, unique individual with their own strengths and weaknesses. I see education as a life-long adventure that should be engaged in everyday. Learning does not start and stop in the classroom, but is a natural part of our lives! Hi, I am a professional tutor and mental health therapist trained in neurobiology and neuropsychology. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been working with children and adults who have been diagnosed with ADD and ADHD as well as those who have some of the symptoms but have no diagnosis. I have methods that assist learners in evaluating their mental state and performance immediately and over time. I teach students how to manage their energy, anxiety, and inattention as well as how to use their learning style to assist them rather than hinder them as they become independent, life long learners. Test taking skills, study skills/habits, organization, and alternative learning methods are all integrated aspects of this method.
Having taught this subject for over ten years, I have many books and lots of support materials to help my students understand Algebra in the way that they learn best. I use analogies, stories, pictures, and easy to understand explanations that will make even the hardest linear equation make sense. Math builds on itself as you progress, so I make sure that you learn the fundamentals as you move through Algebra I and onto the next level.
I received a 97 on my ASVAB when I took it years ago.
