Hi, I'm originally from New York but have been living around the world for the last few years. I spent 2 full years teaching English in Seoul, South Korea to all levels and ages of students. My youngest were only 3 years old! I then moved location to London, England where I obtained a post graduate degree in psychology. I have now just relocated to Tucson and I am excited to continue teaching and tutoring to any student desiring to enhance their spoken or written English. With younger students, I prefer to take an interactive approach, shying away from traditional textbook teaching as I've found this to be much more effective. My post graduate dissertation focused on teaching style and method and explored the benefits of active learning. My research provided evidence for enhanced learning through interaction. I feel that beginning lessons with natural conversation both increases social English ability and sets the environment for a less stressful learning experience. ESL workbooks are used for homework and extra practice, however, the lesson will be catered more towards vocabulary using conversation (preferred method can be discussed). Please do not hesitate to ask any questions about my experience, teaching methods, or anything else you wish to discuss. I am able to speak basic Spanish, BUT we are only allowed to use English in my class! You will learn so much faster. I look forward to being a part of your education and furthering your English ability!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
