About Stefan

I am a young and energetic professional who has extensive teaching and tutoring experience. As a graduate student, I used to teach undergraduates and MBAs at USC. It was an amazing experience, and I am still in close contact with many of them. I have tutored well over 200 students, from 3rd grade throughout high school, college and graduate school.

My specialty is Finance and Business. I tutor all finance, accounting, and management classes up to MBA level. I have a Master of Science in Math Finance and a MS in Business Administration (basically an MBA with academic work). I was enrolled in the Finance Ph.D. program at USC until I decided to start my own business and work in the industry.

My students love that I try to explain the subject matter in a very easy-to-understand way. I have tons of real world examples to illustrate what those dry problems actually represent, and I have experience of tutoring hundreds of students under my belt. That allows me to explain many subjects from different angles - hey, everyone learns differently, right?

I look forward to meeting you and helping you out in whatever math or business class you need. I am also a native German speaker, so for those of you who embarked on the challenge of learning German - I can be of help!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Business

I have an MSBA (extended MBA) from one of the best business schools in the country (USC Marshall School of Business). During that time, I taught and tutored various business classes for undergraduates and MBA candidates. I have extensive business experience as a business owner and/or partner (5 companies), as well as consulting for over 20 corporations and small businesses in the areas of accounting, operations management, workflow optimization, marketing, HR and various other fields. After completing graduate school, being an entrepreneur and consulting for other entrepreneurs and corporations has become my full-time professional career. I have successfully raised capital for start-ups, incorporated and expanded small businesses to mid-sized firms, and assisted in two mergers. My approach to teaching business topics is very real-world oriented and based on experience in addition to the analytical approach taught in academia.

Logic

I have an undergraduate degree in math, IT and economics, and two master's degrees, one of which is in mathematical finance. Logic is an integral part of mathematics and extends throughout the programs I have taken in college. I have a strong IT background (both academic and industry) where logic is the foundation of virtually every software that is being written. If you need any more specific information about my background in that specific area, please contact me.

QuickBooks

I have professional experience both using QuickBooks in more than 6 years of successfully running my own business as well as consulting other businesses on using QuickBooks within their accounting departments. I am extremely proficient in explaining how to properly set up and use accounts, import/export or enter information, reconcile bank accounts, create proper reports in compliance with several different accounting standards, run payroll, manage A/R and A/P, use time sheet and check writing features, etc. I have trained bookkeepers of more than 20 companies ranging from small businesses to mid-size multi-million dollar corporations. I am also proficient in writing proprietary software that customizes communication between corporate software, such as Oracle, and QuickBooks.

Series 7

As a Finance graduate with two graduate degrees in finance and a former investment advisor, I have tremendous experience in the securities market. I used to manage assets of more than $50 million and consult for insurance companies and brokerages. I hold the Series 7, Series 4, Series 24 and Series 65 certificates.

I have tutored about 10 students for the Series 7 exam, several of which had to re-rake it, and all of which passed the exam with scores above 90%. I have a great deal of material, I know great ways to remember rules and approach certain types of problems for each section of the exam.

Statistics

I have an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Economics, a Master's degree in Mathematical Finance and an MBA in Finance. All of these areas require extensive use of statistics. As a graduate student, I taught Business Statistics to undergraduates at USC (Los Angeles). I continue to use statistical methods throughout my professional career. I also have extensive tutoring experience in Statistics, ranging from Introductory Statistics to advanced statistics concepts and assisting with doctoral theses.
