Tutoring high school and college students is a joy. After I finished my Master of Arts degree in Higher Education at the University of Arizona, I began tutoring students individually and in pairs. Most of my students are Asian and are working on their Master's Degree or their PhDs. I have taught English in China, tutored a high school student from Japan and spent one summer assisting a student in intensive preparation for taking the TOEFL iBT.
I have taught at the local community college and the University of Arizona. We would work collaboratively to create the best learning environment for you.
I look forward to hearing from you soon!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am confident that I can help prepare candidates to take the bar exam. I have taught courses at the University of Arizona College of Law and in the Pima Community College Legal Assistant Program. I developed these courses and prepared my own syllabi and exams. I have been helping students improve their writing in preparation for successfully passing examinations for many years in a variety of subject areas. Having been employed by the College of Law for many years, I am familiar with legal terminology and legal writing.
I have experience working with college and high school students to improve their business communications skills. I have worked with a number of graduate students enrolled in the University of Arizona's Eller College MBA program to help them improve their presentations by practicing/coaching them on their delivery.

I completed an M.A. from the University of Arizona's Center for the Study of Higher Education. The courses focus on student services. From the array of course specializations I chose College Counseling. Shadowing counselors and attending meetings has given me familiarity with student need and college requirements. Further, I have tutored individuals writing resumes. For these reasons, I believe I am qualified to tutor College Counseling.
I teach basic computer literacy that includes using the Internet and Email programs such as Yahoo.
I teach computer software applications (Microsoft Office Suite products Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
I also teach students how to use Picasa3 photo editing software.
I love to help students with their written and spoken English. Let me share some ideas that have worked for others.
I have been using a MAC for many years and have taught computer application courses from the basics to more advanced aspects including photo organization and manipulation. I have taught for the local community college Adult Education Division as well as OASIS, a national organization focused on students over 45 years of age.
I believe this qualifies me to tutor someone who would like assistance with photos on the MAC.
For many years I have taught individuals how to use Windows in many settings: at a community college, in continuing education classes for adults, and specifically for seniors taking classes through the umbrella organization, Oasis.
Learning to use Windows is crucial to mastering essential activities on a computer, such as mail and the Microsoft Office suite of applications needed to work in Word as well as other programs.
As a WyzAnt tutor, I have worked with individuals who wanted to use Microsoft Word effectively. For these reasons I believe I am qualified as a Microsoft Windows tutor.
I love Word and once you understand it you will love it too. All the bells and whistles that have been added with the upgrades are really improvements. Let me show you how to use Word effectively and efficiently.
My college major was English language, Literature and Composition. My minor was History. I received my master's degree from the University of Arizona College of Education. After I received my master's degree I taught English at a top Chinese university. When I returned to Arizona I began tutoring college students, both undergraduates and graduates, in a variety of subjects. I have been working with students taking a variety of tests and have developed several strategies for taking tests that have proven to be effective, while, at the same time, focusing on the specific parameters of the test being taken, as strategies vary depending on the test in question.
I have completed hundreds of proofreading projects, from student essays to full-length manuscripts for professional publications. Additional qualifications include an academic background in English and teaching experience in other countries.
I would be thrilled to help individuals with their public speaking. I have completed the course offered by Toastmasters and have conducted seminars on public speaking. I have tutored International students who wanted to improve their public speaking with great success. I have taught a course in spoken and written English in China.
I have tutored high school and college students, primarily in English, writing and reading comprehension for many years. Many have been preparing to take tests. My approach is to find out what is movitating them to improve their study skills, key to their success as well as to my ability to help. Determining learning styles is also critical to the process. These are a few of the techniques I use that are essential to learning any kind of material.
