If your child will be enrolled in grades K-8 next school year and spent this past school year struggling academically or if you would prefer that your child get ahead during summer break, I would like to offer my summer tutoring services. My name is Kamilah and I am a certified special education teacher with 12 years of teaching and tutoring experience. I have loved tutoring one-on-one over the years because it has allowed me to work closely with kids/families and move students in the right direction. I have been able to offer children strategies and techniques to use that relate to working towards mastery of different concepts that he or she may be struggling with.
I offer a free assessment at no charge so that the needs of your child can be identified and so we may discuss a plan to help your child be more successful. Tutoring services are offered either at the library in Avondale, in your home or online. I strive to make pricing affordable for the families I work with. Please feel free to contact me. I am available to speak with you and see what we can do to address your child's needs.

I have always worked with students who have special needs and have a child with special needs. I am very patient and have knowledge of how to work with students who may require special accommodations to deal with their specific needs. I can also offer parents advice on how to navigate through the public, private/charter school systems to get their child what they need outside of the tutoring environment.
I look forward to hearing from you! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am certified to teach cross-categorical special education to students in grades K-12. I have 12 years of experience working in self-contained and resource teaching environments as a self-contained/resource teacher. I have also tutored students with multiple disabilities including this one. I enjoy using the action reading program which moves students 2-3 grade levels by the end of the program. I can tutor in any subject needed however.
