Arizona State University (Computer Engineering)
Hello, My name is Ted and I have been tutoring high school and college students for 3 years now. I currently am a senior computer engineering student with a 3.5 GPA. I also work in aerospace engineering for a top rocket science company. I am a military veteran and have experience teaching many age levels. I find tutoring the most satisfying when the student and I are able to make those mental "light bulbs" switch on. I truly believe that 99% of people who say they "aren't good at math" have an enormous potential waiting to be unleashed and just need to be working towards their goals in the right way for them.
I first started tutoring during my time in the military and found that I really appreciated the communication breakthroughs that was possible to make with my peers or students. When I moved to Arizona I tutored for two years with a community outreach program and helped students working towards their G.E.D.
I can tutor all the way up to Calculus in mathematics, intermediate computer programming classes, as well as essential literature and writing skills. If your subject is not listed and would still like to reach out please do so and we can discuss it further. I have a passion for STEM subjects and really most of academia. Even more I am passionate about working towards a better planet and I believe education is the foundation to get there. I look forward to working with you!
Applicable courses I have taken recently:
College Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I, Calculus II, Calculus III, Discrete Mathematical Structures, Applied Linear Algebra, Differential Equations. Physics I, Physics II,
Data Structures and Algorithms, Digital Fundamentals, Logic, and I have scored in the top percentile on the ASVAB. Ted helped me review for my Calculus final. He was very flexible with when and where to meet and it was easy setting up a lesson. I was having a hard time understanding the material at first, but he explained the problems to me in ways that helped me better understand what I was learning.
Ted helped me to understand various fundamental aspects of mathematics, and the military. While helping me understand ASVAB military entrance exam, Ted gave me pointers on what to realistically expect from my potential career. I am so happy to have Ted as my tutor. Scheduling him again because of his ability to help me understand complicated things. 10 out of 10.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I'm a senior computer engineering student. I know C, C++ , Java, Visual Basic, Android, Arduino, etc.
I am studying computer engineering with a 3.5 GPA and electrical circuitry, especially when it comes to computer systems, deals heavily on computational and boolean logic. I also have studied philosophy of logic and completed the course with an A+ and was exempt from having to take the final exam.
