“**Knowledgeable and patient tutor**”

I enjoy working one on one with students to help them suceed in Algebra. While I would have loved being a high school math teacher, I instead, graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering and later earned an MBA. I recently retired from my management position and now have time to pursue what I love, working with students. It is my experience that

In-person lessons

I met with Jayne to prep for my Algebra midterm and get a better understanding on inequalities, isolating variables, and the proper method to working with exponents. She was very patient and thorough in explaining how to go about solving different types of problems. We also made a separate page of notes so that I could reference back when needed. I will absolutely work with Jayne again and recommend her to anyone looking to gain a better understanding of Algebra.

Thank you very much, Jayne. Jeremy is much better prepared for his test thanks to your teaching expertise! His confidence level increased; he hasn't mentioned his hate of math for at least two weeks - that is success!

Jayne is so quick to respond via the app, and eager to help my 13 yr old son with his Algebra 2. She's great with kids and so patient!

Jane coached me so well in math. Today I completed my accuplacer test after only 14 sessions with her. I started off not remembering how to add fractions to now kicking butt with quadratic equations and so many other technical methods in math !! Proud to say I passed my placements test today. And my goal with her was met. I now only have one math class left in college to complete. She helped me skip over so much math and helped me avoid more classes. Because of her I learned more in a few months than I have in a semester of just one math class. I owe her so much !! Thanks wyzant! Thanks Jayne !!!

Elementary Education:

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra is my passion. I started tutoring 30+ years ago. Recently, I spent the full school year working with several students on a weekly basis. I believe firmly there is more than one way to grasp a concept. If the first explanation doesn't resonate with the student, I will try another, typically a visual way to explain the concept. I also work to instill confidence. For some reason, many students are afraid of math and that fear gets in their way. Appropriate positive reinforcement will go a long way.

I started tutoring 30+ years ago, including Algebra 2.

The SAT covers math up Algebra II. As an Algebra II tutor, I believe there is more than one way to explain a concept. If the first way isn't working, I will try another, typically a visual method such as graphing.
