I am a mathematics and physics major at Arizona State University and have been tutoring mathematics here since January 2013 (I tutored at the largest math tutoring center in the nation (ASU's) for 3 years and got a tutor of the year reward there one year). I am always ready to learn more math and share any knowledge of it with other people (in fact I enjoy doing both!). I am a mathematics and physics major at Arizona State University and have been tutoring mathematics here since January 2013 (I tutored at the largest math tutoring center in the nation (ASU's) for 3 years and got a tutor of the year reward there one year). I am always ready to learn more math and share any knowledge of it with other people (in fact I enjoy doing both!). I believe the best way to learn math is to understand the underlying concepts behind mathematical problems, to understand the problem solving techniques used to solve specific 'types' of problems, and to question why (to be curious about) certain mathematical truths are what they are.

In High School I took (Geometry and Algebra) Calculus I and Calculus II and received a 5 on the AP Calculus B/C exam. Elementary Math is where I began liking math and playing games that have involved math. I like to help younger ones understand what is numbers are and what the binary operation +, -, *, and /. Then there are some neat tricks one can do with numbers. I am taking a class called Number Theory right now in fact that talks more about the theory of numbers and integers more precisely though I do have a little bit of Math analysis background if I wanted to talk about the real numbers.

I finished Algebra 1 while I was in Middle School and have tutored subjects ranging from algebra to subjects passed calculus. Algebra is difficult for many people because transitioning from arithmetic to algebra means looking at math not just in terms of numbers but in terms of variables. The best way in my opinion to tutor/teach algebra is to give concrete examples and to explain why things work the way they do in algebra. If for example on an exam one forgets an algebraic rule but understands the concepts underlying it, then he or she can possibly re-derive it quickly and still do well on the exam; also it may then be easier for him or her to remember such an equations or rule. I also believe understanding the concepts at a deeper level brings more insight into mathematics and thus more appreciation for math.

I have taken ordinary differential equations and Math Methods for Physics II at ASU in AZ. Math Methods for Physics II covered lots of partial differential equations including separation of variables in Cartesian, cylindrical, and spherical coordinates. I have been tutoring Differential equations at ASU for approximately 1 years time as of Dec. 2013. I can do things ranging from separation of variables to Laplace transformations.

At ASU, I have currently taken Math Structures (intro. to proof writing), Advanced Calculus (Introduction to Mathematical Analysis which is basically beginning proving calculus), Cryptography I (which has lots of number Theory), and introduction to Abstract Algebra as of Dec. 2013. All of these subjects cover more than 4/5th's of discrete mathematics. I have also tutored and have done review sessions(reviewed in front of a class of 30 or so students for their discrete math exam) at ASU for Discrete Mathematics.

I have taken MAT342 (Linear Algebra) my freshmen year of college at Arizona State University with an A in the class and a 100% on the final exam. I watched and took notes on over 90% of the Khan Academy Linear Algebra videos. I have been tutoring Linear Algebra at ASU since May 2013.

I also have done four years of Mathematics courses that is fundamentally founded upon one's ability to use logic, write proofs, justify arguments rigorously, and pinpoint logical fallacies (formal and informal).

Adam is a kind, patient individual who is a fantastic math tutor. He takes every problem and explains it step by step, guiding you through it so you can complete problems on your own. He’s very approachable and flexible, always trying to work with students’ schedules to set up time for tutoring. He makes dry subjects like Calculus 1 easy and fun.

Okay

He was good with matrices and inverse operations for MAT 211 but struggled a lot helping me with probability questions. I recommend hiring a different tutor if you are taking MAT 211.
