***All sessions are conducted virtually at this time due to COVID.*** I teach others, especially those who have, for whatever reason, obstacles in their learning. I teach teachers. I teach those who will, one day, be able to teach future generations.
After fifteen years of educating in Special Education classrooms in California and Arizona, I redirected my energies primarily on tutoring individual students. When I can focus my full attention on a single student, I can identify needs and strategies faster, and address concerns as they arise. I work with parents, students, and other educators in a team to maximize student understanding and learning.

My primary age group and range is Kindergarten through 8th grade in all subjects, but can also help learners from high school level through adults of any age. I especially love teaching Science and Social Studies. Beyond academics, I also work with Executive Function skills to help people to organize their work and thinking processes. Homeschool parents, if you need SpEd counseling or assistance, I am happy to help you! I love and am inspired by learning, and I want to spread that inspiration to you or your child.

As a Special Education teacher with a Cross-Categorical credential, I can teach all subjects common to the K-8 curriculum and beyond. This includes Algebra 1 and related math subjects.

I educated students with ADHD and ADD in classrooms for fifteen years, and I continue to educate them now in home settings as a tutor. I also had ADHD for all of my childhood and much of my adolescence. These experiences have given me a unique perspective on how to approach and work with students who have these conditions.

I'm here for your needs or for the needs of your child. It doesn't matter if you need help getting from A to B, or from A to G, or from E to M in the educational process, if you need assistance on any step of the way, I can help get you there. Contact me. Morning and early afternoon times are available, especially for homeschool kids!

Elementary (K-6th)

I have taught in K-8 classrooms in California and Arizona since 2003, helping Special Needs and General Education students alike, progress in all subjects from basic Phonics up to Middle School Math and Science. I have worked with students in a variety of settings, from a private 1-to-1 environment in homes, to full classrooms containing 25+ students. I specialize in helping students to break down the barriers that come between them and understanding their schoolwork. I have found from working in the classroom that building a personal connection with students is essential to the learning process in helping to build comprehension and understanding; working as your tutor will only magnify this effect.

History

Social Studies,

Social Studies

They say, "do what you love", and I take this literally. While I am certified as a Special Education Teacher, my passion since childhood has been History and Social Studies. I teach about cultures and civilizations from ancient times until the present day. I start with what people already know, and then I expand and connect these islands of knowledge to make them relevant and understandable to modern minds.

Special Needs

ADHD,

ADHD

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Masters in Education Program at the University of San Francisco in 2007. After eight successful years teaching Resource and Self-Contained classrooms in the San Francisco Bay Area, I moved to the Phoenix Valley Area, where I continued working in this vein for another seven years. In 2017, I made the transition from teacher to professional tutor, enabling me to address student needs with a compassionate, laser-like focus.
Dyslexia,

Dyslexia

As a credentialed Special Education teacher, I am trained to work with students that have Reading Disabilities including dyslexia. Towards this end, I have used various strategies from Irlen filters through exercises involving the memorization of phonic elements. Every student is different, but through focusing on and addressing individual student need, meaningful progress can be made.
Special Needs,

Special Needs

I earned a Masters Degree in Special Education from the University of San Francisco in 2007. I have taught Special Education students for over seventeen years at this point, fifteen years in the classroom and nearly three as a private tutor. I teach all students of all ages and my SpEd credentials give me the skills to work with any learning intelligence or executive functioning issue.
