I would like to tutor students who are interested in art - either making it, appreciating it, or who think they might be interested in writing about it The areas I would like to tutor in are: history of art, critical theory, and criticism. I would like to offer focused "field trips" to look at art in the real world (the most significant learning tool/experience for understanding art), specific concentration on contemporary art, and help students either to write about art or to start writing artist statements about their own work. I am absolutely open to students who require specific help with any school or college degree courses related to the fields of visual art and critical theory. I studied art and art history seriously from a fairly young age (16) and have just recently moved from NYC where I was a full time freelance art critic writing for the most respected art magazines worldwide. I have published hundreds of articles, reviews, essays, and other forms of critical response over the past 10 years. I am an active member of AICA - International Association of Art Critics. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I graduated from a 4 year Fine Art (BA hons) degree from Dartington College of Art in 1999.
