Math is the language of nature. You can find it everywhere if you know what you're looking for. Math is also in everything we do in the world, ranging from counting money to playing sports. It can also be a very hard language to learn, and people often feel intimidated by the concepts and formulas contained in Math. This is where I can help.
I have been working with Students in a 1 on 1 and small group basis for over 7 years. During this time, I've come to understand that every Student learns math a little differently, and that certain concepts are easier for different Students to grasp, while others require more time and personal care. I am a great choice for a Math Tutor because I can communicate these formulas and concepts to Students in a way that they will understand, and because I will take the time to get to know the people I tutor. I am a flexible Tutor, and am willing to meet with you as often as needed, wherever you'd like, to help you become successful in your classes. Learning on an individual basis will greatly help Students become successful in school and in life, and I look forward to helping you reach your goals. Math is the language of nature. Please talk to me if you have any questions. I am flexible with my billing, and will work with you on anything you need.
Jon has changed my daughter's attitude about math. He is not only professional, but very knowledgeable as well. He is able to present the material in a clear and concise way she understands. Any tutor can answer a child's questions; however, Jon addresses any underlying problems and corrects them. He genuinely cares about her success. Her confidence surrounding math has soared as well as her grades. Thank you so much!
My son has struggled with math for years. Jon has been so helpful in not only keeping my son current with his algebra class, but also going back to fill in the gaps in knowledge from past concepts my son never grasped.
Jon really helped me understand Surface Area, and other things like that on a Freshman math level. All of this was very difficult for me to understand but now it all came together and I understand it now. I recommend him for all levels. He is funny and he helps you with notecards! I will never forget Jon. Thank you. Make this man your tutor TODAY!
Since working with Jonathan my daughter has gained confidence in her algebra skills. He listens closely to see where she needs help, and gets her understanding what she's doing wrong. Great to work with as far as scheduling and keeping in contact. My daughter enjoys going to tutoring.
Jonathan is very organized and extremely thorough. He comes prepared with lessons designed to target specific areas of concern noticed in the previous tutoring session. He is patient and uses positive strategies to help my daughter understand and remember what he is explaining to her. He is always on time and uses the time efficiently.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Algebra 1 is often a difficult subject for Students. They are introduced to many new concepts and formulas about math, and can often feel overwhelmed as they try to keep the formulas straight in their mind, and as they try to remember when to use each formula. I've been working with Students for over 7 years to help them understand the formulas they learn, and find simple ways to break down the formulas and remember when to use them. I'm excited for the opportunity to work with your Students and help them understand these concepts!
Now that students are comfortable with using letters as variables in equations, Algebra 2 starts to introduce new items into the equations, such as inequalities, absolute values, matrices, and the quadratic equation. With so many new methods of finding the answers for variable equations, many Students have a hard time understanding the new math. I can help students understand the different equations, how they work, and when to use them. I do this by explaining the equations in an easy to understand form, and helping the students work through their homework or other study help.
The GED test can be quite challenging if you're not prepared for it. I'm here to help you review the necessary knowledge to pass the test, including basic math functions, figuring out how to solve word problems, understanding grammar and punctuation, and anything else you need to obtain your GED.
Geometry is all about shapes and angles. I am very familiar with the concepts presented in Geometry, and can help Students learn to identify the shapes they are looking at, and identify the correct formula for finding the desired information about that shape.
If you're having trouble with problems where letters have been thrown into the mix of numbers, or don't quite understand the concept of ratios, then I'm here to help. I can explain why math uses variables to find numbers, how to quickly find the ratio of objects, or even how to understand and solve lengthy word problems.
