I am a retired Information Technology Executive - During my career, I served as a leader, manager and executive dedicated to helping my staff and business associates grow and excel through my ability to coach, mentor and motivate. The thing I enjoy most is helping others and seeing them learn, gain confidence and grow.
I was formerly trained and am a certified Zenger Miller trainer and have taught/tutored management and leadership classes. Also as a volunteer I taught boating safety and navigation for the US Power Squadron. Through my career I've informally worked with numerous people to teach them Information Technology skills such as Microsoft Windows and MS Office. Since retiring, I've worked with a personal growth coach and served on a leadership board where I use the skills I've learned to help others achieve their desired results through coaching and counseling.
I've always had a tremendous interest in photography and have spent the last few years honing the skills I have gained through the years. I participate in multiple photography forums and sites and spend time each day helping others with how-to questions. I've also tutored 2 people one-on-one in post-processing techniques, specifically in Lightroom.
Through online training and lots of practice, I've honed my skills in processing images in Lightroom, and to a lesser degree, Photoshop. I have become quite proficient not only in the workings of Lightroom, but also as an artist working with light, which I use to enhance my photographs. Most recently, I tutored an associate of mine who is a professional commercial photographer, and through what I've taught him, he has greatly improved his photographs. I am also in the midst of scheduling a Lightroom training program at the Phoenix Center for the Arts - where I will be instructing students on Lightroom and how to read and determine how to improve a photographs exposure and impact.
I've been taking pictures since I was about 10, have self-studied and taken many courses on various kinds of photography. As a youth I had a small darkroom and used to process black and white film, do enlargements and prints for our neighbors and myself. Since retired, I seriously honed my skills, have done a wee bit of professional work and enjoy sharing my knowledge and skills to help others make better photos.

I presented him with a problem he has not witnessed before(my dumb input resulted in dumb output) but he figured this out very efficiently. He also explained the basis of Lightroom and then after resolving my problem showed me how to input my images, organize them, etc. Very patient and helpful. Would utilize him again and recommend him. Not at all overbearing.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I understand the key elements of composition and can teach you how to take pictures that draw in a viewer, pictures that are more interesting.
I thoroughly understand the exposure triangle (aperture, shutter speed and ISO), and most important, I will teach you how to read light as your camera sees it and how it is different than how you see it
Not only am I a practiced photographer, I've also taken live and online training to consistently improve my skills and of course practice, practice, practice.
Lastly, good photos are a combination of proper composition and exposure complimented by the boosts and finesse of post processing to bring photos to life, I've got extensive experience in using Adobe Lightroom and in teaching it too!
