I have close to ten years tutoring experience, including 7 years as a substitute in SUSD and being a full time tutor in all subjects for a student at Cheyenne Traditional School.
I have passed both the AEPA in Secondary English and Middle Grades Math.
For many kids, math is more of a struggle than it needs to be.
As I do with reading comprehension, I utilize relatable examples and touchstones as tools to make math concepts more accessible and engaging to young students.
My comprehensive classroom experience allows me to teach kids up to the Algebra 1 level to learn math in a fun and engaging manner.
In addition to scoring the highest possible score on the writing portion of the English AEPA I have worked with countless students on their writing skills throughout my seven years while working for The Scottsdale Unified School District.
I have over ten years experience writing for numerous local and national magazines and websites. Some of the publications my work has been published in include: Contently (The Freelancer), Vantage Sports, Men's Heath, Celtic's Life, City AZ Magazine (cover interview Cindy Margolis), 944 Magazine (film and music reviews, featured in contributor's section), College Times-Arizona State University.
This writing experience also allows me to help students find their "voice" for their college application essays as well.
My goal is to instill a lifelong love of reading in kids and young adults.
If you are not familiar with the term Young Adult Literature think of it as John Hughes movies (Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off) in book form. Books geared toward teens and topics that are relevant to their everyday lives.
The reason I am a fan of YA literature for kids from the elementary school all the way through the high school level because it is such an effective way to build a love of reading that translates into increased proficiency. I have close to ten years tutoring experience, including 7 years as a substitute in SUSD and being a full time tutor in all subjects for a student at Cheyenne Traditional School.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
