About Chris

Bio

I am a college graduate with 2 bachelor of science degrees: Aerospace Engineering, and Space Physics. I was a tutor at my university for 2 years in higher level math and physics before I graduated. After graduation, I became a tutor at my hometown's community college while I looked for engineering careers. While there, I also tutored all levels of math and physics.

After graduation, I became a tutor at my hometown's community college while I looked for engineering careers. While there, I also tutored all levels of math and physics.

The math courses I have assisted students in include, but are not limited to: algebra I and II, trigonometry, geometry, pre-calculus, calculus I, II, and III, vector calculus, ordinary differential equations, linear algebra, and partial differential equations.

The physics courses I have assisted students in include, but are not limited to: kinematics, thermodynamics, electrodynamics I and II, classical mechanics I and II, fluid mechanics, chemistry, modern physics, optics, and quantum mechanics.

I also have years of experience with MATLAB and mathematica programs.

I will be attending University of Arizona in the fall to begin a masters program and eventually get my PhD in optical sciences.

  • Hourly Rate: $55
  • Rate details: If you live in Red Rock, I can lower the rate to $45/hour, but as the next closest town is Marana I will require $55/hour to account for gas costs. I apologize for the increase.
  • Travel policy: Within 40 miles of Red Rock, AZ 85145
  • Lesson cancellation: 4 hours notice required

Mathematica,

Mathematica

I have used mathematica for the four years I was receiving education for my bachelor of science in space physics. I have used mathematica for projects such as modelling the 3-dimensional time-dependent heat flow through a material given a Gaussian laser-beam heat-input. I have also used it for projects in Newtonian optics, nuclear physics, and electrodynamics. Anything is easy to learn in Mathematica with the help function.
MATLAB,

MATLAB

I used MATLAB in every aerospace engineering project I participated in when I attended Embry Riddle Aeronautical University for 5 years. I have used it to model satellite orbits in Simulink and all of the satellite's subsystems. My entire Controls and Stability course was involved with MATLAB. Attitude Dynamics was based in MATLAB. I'm an aerospace engineer, every single calculation that is too complex for a calculator, or requires modelling, is done in MATLAB. I'm an expert.

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

I have taken courses in differential equations and applied partial differential equations. I received an A in both subjects while I was a student, and similarly helped those students I later tutored receive A's. I use differential equations nearly every day in higher level physics, and it is the basis for solving the most complex questions.
Linear Algebra,

Linear Algebra

I have tutored in this subject at two separate colleges. I received an A when I took this subjects, and similarly helped students I tutored receive higher scores on their tests by explaining the logic of the proofs to them.

Mechanical Engineering,

Mechanical Engineering

I have a bachelor of science in Aerospace Engineering, and many of those classes are required for mechanical engineering. At Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, a majority of the aerospace engineer and mechanical engineering courses are shared. I graduated with a 3.25 GPA with 2 bachelors degrees. I recently passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam in California, so I am a certified Engineer in Training. I have taken courses including, but not limited to: Aircraft structures I and II, thermodynamics, structures and instrumentation, and materials science.
