First let me say, I enjoy teaching, and this is the desire of my heart to share what I have learned over the past 35 years in the Electrical field. My background in electrical is diverse, and ranges from an Electrician on a Coast Guard vessel, to the industrial field, to University Electrical Department Supervisor, to a Vocational Electrical Department Professor at a college in California and Arizona. Within the last five years, I have expanded my knowledge to include solar energy. I have also have run my own electrical business.
My students at Long Beach City College, where I am now an Online Instructor, have ranged from Electricians to Electrical Engineers. I have also taught Real Estate Agents and City/County Inspectors who are looking into strengthening their knowledge and background within their field. While working with Rio Salado, here in Arizona, I worked with young men and women who were interested in completing their GED and also learning a vocation in the electrical field. Rio Salado is known as the College without walls.
The electrical classes I teach utilize math, physics and deductive reasoning. I am pleased to say that my students have reported that they have learned a great deal in my classes. My philosophy in teaching is, no student left behind. I utilize photos, current regulations, and a lot of interaction and communication with my students in order to assure they not only understand, but do not get lost and give up. New concepts can be overwhelming, but with different approaches, they can be overcome. Each student learns differently, and my goal is to find out how to help my students become proficient in the electrical field.
It is not unusual for my past students to still contact me for assistance (tutoring) when they are working on a project or job, have a question, or would like a reference when applying for a job. Tutoring for me is just another aspect of teaching, and I enjoy teaching.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
