I have always had very strong language skills. In high school, I excelled in Spanish and French, taking two years of each, and then continuing during my first two years in college.

At UCLA as an undergraduate student majoring in History, I completed the entire course circuits on Ancient Roman History, Ancient Greek History, and Byzantine History. I also took a course on Women's History in the Ancient Mediterranean through UCLA's Classics department. Along with my studies in History, I completed three years of Latin and two years of Ancient Greek, as well as Italian, which I got to exercise on my trip to Rome and Pompeii. My senior project was a paper on Classical Linguistics--specifically on Vulgar (common) Latin--which was selected as the singular project in the class to be presented at the May 2014 meeting of the UCLA Classical Society. I even worked as a research associate, assisting my mentor with proofreading and fact-checking parts of her manuscript.

At the University of Chicago as a graduate student, I continued my studies in Latin and Ancient Greek, reading 1,000 lines of Homer's Iliad in Greek for homework some nights. I passed the Latin Reading Exam and the French Reading Exam, which qualified me to progress in the program as a TA and teach undergraduate courses. I also completed a course on reading German for research purposes.

Since graduating with my MA in Classics, I have been tutoring students in languages and social sciences. I have many former students who have successfully gone on to college or reached their academic goals, and many satisfied parents who can attest to my dedication to my students. I have also taught grades K-12 in a range of subjects at BASIS Charter School in Prescott, Arizona.

Knowledgeable and patient

My son really enjoyed his first lesson! He said Kristie explains things really clearly. He is in a more advanced Latin class at school, trying to catch up to his peers.

Great tutor!

Kristie is a wonderful tutor. One of our kids has to catch up to the rest of her class in Latin having joined a new school halfway through the year. Kristie's knowledge and teaching skills are excellent and she kept the class fun and interesting.

Excellent Latin tutor

My daughter finds lessons with Kristie extremely helpful and, at the same time, very enjoyable. A very patient and very knowledgeable tutor. I would very much recommend Kristie for all your Latin needs.

Fantastic tutor who can change pace as needed

Delighted with this tutor! She is able to cover lots of ground quickly and expertly. She is also flexible and can book on a dime. An excellent resource. We will be using her regularly!

Knowledgable and Engaging

Kristie was the most accommodating tutor to me this summer. I was preparing for a latin exam and Kristie provided me with not only additional pdfs, assignments, and readings but also taught me a lot. I could not recommend her enough; she really cares about her students and wants them to succeed and will go at any length to make that happen. Thank you Kristie!
