American University (Int'l Relations)
Syracuse University (Master's)
My interest in teaching has grown over the years as I have had the pleasure of helping several students realize their own potential through the improvement of their grades and test scores. Throughout the course of my graduate studies, I have been consistently recognized every semester by the Dean of Syracuse University for my superior academic achievements, which is one of the many reasons why I stress the importance of hard work and dedication.
With a bachelors degree in international relations from American University's School of International Service, I have a great deal of experience in dealing with the comprehensive realm of the social sciences to include anthropology, cross-cultural communications, criminology, economics, foreign language, geography, history, political science, and social studies. As a graduate student, my focus is directed towards global security and international politics, namely in the Middle East and North African region of the world.
As a former tactical officer at the New York Military Academy (NYMA), I have experience working with children from the 7th through 12th grade. On multiple occasions, I have organized individual and collective study groups both in private and at the academy in an effort to help students improve their understanding of all academic disciplines.
It is my goal for the student to feel more and more comfortable as we work together to build a strong foundation and strengthen any problem areas that he or she may have. I try to be flexible with time and understand that things happen last minute, but please do try to give me some type of notice.
I love to make learning fun so students feel more comfortable and interested in the subject(s) at hand. Learning does not always have to be done the traditional way; we can make a game or a song out of it!
As an older sister, I have a lifetime of experience working with younger children and helping them achieve their goals.
I respect all of my students and value their existing knowledge. I look forward to hearing from you so we can build upon that knowledge and make your educational goals become a reality. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
