My tutoring experience prior to WyzAnt is primarily in organic chemistry; I was an organic chemistry tutor for the Department of Chemistry at University of California, Irvine for a year and then became the coordinator for their organic chemistry tutoring program the following year, where I worked with about 15 tutors.
Working as a tutor is my primary job and I've been working with WyzAnt since November 2012. I’ve tutored as early as 7AM and as late as 2AM; I'm currently attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, therefore I would only be available on weekday evenings and anytime on weekends. Virpaul has taught our daughter and her friends chemistry and algebra 2 last year and we have now moved on to pre-calculus. Virpaul has a great natural talent for making sense of even the more difficult mathematical concepts. We are actually looking forward to our tutoring sessions with Virpaul, since we know he will come to the rescue and do the teaching, that is unfortunately not done by our daughter's high school math teacher.
He helped my brother with his high school honors chemistry class . He was patient and flexible with us. My brother felt comfortable with the tutoring session and gained a better understanding of chemistry concepts.
Tightening up on the eve before test. Virpaul helped review homework, practice test and get the kids ready. Looking forward to their progress.
Virpaul covered algebra and physics homework with my son and was able to explain concepts very well. my son enjoyed the interaction.
When Virpaul helps me I understand so much better. His style of tutoring is very effective and easy to understand. I would highly recommend him for calculus and chemistry.
After having tried two tutors, Virpaul was the third tutor I tried for physics help. I am a returning student after being out of college for almost a decade, and had never taken physics before. Needless to say, I had a lot of gaps to fill in. He was very patient, knowledgeable, and had other resource material to pull from to give clearer examples. My physics teacher was not very good, so Virpaul essentially had to re-teach a lot of the material to me. He did so with ease and was very encouraging. Not once did I feel dumb for asking a question.
I sought tutoring because I needed an A in physics in order to get into the program I am applying to. I started working with Virpaul with only three weeks left in the course and was at a low B at that point. I ended up getting an A in the class! I am confident that a lot of my success was due to Virpaul's teaching and preparation for my last two exams. I would highly recommend that you use Virpaul for any tutoring needs!
Virpaul is a fabulous tutor. He is flexible on scheduling, prompt, and stays as long as the student needs. A+ tutor!
Virpaul is very patient and explains the material well. He is a better teacher than my daughter's instructor at school.
My daughter always speaks highly of Virpaul and says Virpaul has helped her to understand and potentially master her subject!
We are very pleased with Virpaul's tutoring. Over the last couple of years, Virpaul has tutored our son in trigonometry, precalculus, honors chemistry and now AP chemistry and AP calculus AB. He is very punctual, conscientious, courteous and flexible. Virpaul is very knowledgeable in the subject areas that he tutors. I would recommend him to any student who needs help on those subjects.
Virpaul takes his time tutoring and is very helpful. My daughter certainly is learning and understanding concepts she's been having trouble with. Thank you Virpaul!! Would definitely recommend you.
Virpaul has tutored my son for the past year and has been a great help for him to face the challenges of pre-cal. Virpaul is patient, polite, always on time, always pleasant, and very knowledgeable. He is very easy to reach. We are very happy with having him as a math and chemistry tutor. Thank you Virpaul.
Virpaul has been a wonderful tutor! Together, we previewed material for my upcoming organic chemistry course. He arrived punctually to each lesson, enthusiastic and more than prepared for the material to be covered that day. His patience and friendliness helped me feel comfortable enough to ask questions whenever I was unsure of something, and he never seemed to mind explaining concepts to me a second time, which I am very thankful for. He explained all the topics very clearly and thoroughly, which definitely prepared me well for my upcoming course. He is clearly knowledgeable and passionate about organic chemistry, and he made learning the subject interesting and enjoyable. Highly recommended!
Virpaul is an excellent tutor. He was very helpful yesterday in helping my child prepare for the last chapter test of the year. Now we need him to help with the upcoming final.
Virpaul has really helped my son in algebra II, trig, and chemistry. Since working with Virpaul, my son has maintained the highest grades he has had in these classes all year!
Virpaul does a great job of helping my daughter with Pre-calcus and Physics. He is always on time and responds quickly to our emails.
Virpaul is an excellent tutor. My daughter's curriculum is pretty tough. Virpaul has a strong background in Chemistry as well as other subjects. He is worth every penny. I would highly recommend him.
Virpaul has been great with tutoring my daughter in pre-calc & physics. He genuinely cares about my daughter's education and is prepared to tutor when he arrives. I appreciate his punctuality, efforts and patient ability to explain difficult math concepts well to a student who does not appreciate the subject. Thank you!
Mr. Virpaul has successfully tutored my daughter in Chemistry and Algebra Honors. His ability to successfully teach and communicate with the kids is excellent!
Virpaul is very patient in teaching Organic Chemistry. On top of that he is very knowledgeable of the subject matter. I never feel stuck when he is tutoring me. He even helped me with some lab homework as well. His times are very flexible and all in all he is an excellent tutor. I would recommend him to any of my friends.
Virpaul did a good job covering the topics my daughter needed to know for her chemistry test. He was punctual and focused on the lesson.
Virpaul is an excellent tutor. He's very patient and does a great job of explaining things. There were a few concepts that I didn't understand so he made sure to explain them to me in a way that allowed me to comprehend them. He's very helpful and is always on time.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
When I was an organic chemistry tutor at UCI, we shared the tutoring room with general chemistry tutors; I would aid students that came by looking for help with general chemistry when there weren't any general chemistry tutors available. Since joining WyzAnt, I have tutored various students with high school- and college-level general chemistry.
I was enrolled in two Greek Mythology classes at UCI and received A’s in both classes. I still have the textbook as well as my old notes, lecture recordings, study guides, practice quizzes, and previous exams.
With all the shapes involved in geometry, I feel that I can tutor the subject easily due to it being a more visual subject and have been to various high schoolers.

Physics has always been my favorite subject. I have taken 4 semesters of algebra-based physics in high school and college and received an A every semester. In high school, I had my first exposure to physics, where I gained a strong understanding of the subject and used it to ace the course as well as aid my classmates in understanding the material. In college, I completed my physics courses while on a study abroad program in England and again aided my fellow classmates, some who were taking physics for the first time.
When tutoring pre-algebra, I help students with their homework assignments and explain the material as we go through it. If we finish all the problems they were assigned, I can explain the material they will probably be seeing next or come up with problems for them to do that are very similar to their assigned ones.
Getting A's each semester/quarter in every class of pre-calculus and calculus I have ever taken, I fully understand the material and have been able to use it to aid students navigate through their classes.
The second half of the algebra II class I took in high school involved trigonometry and I was able to attain an A for the semester. With trigonometry being the bridge between algebra and calculus, I have been able to use my trigonometry knowledge to help students transition from algebra onto calculus.
