Hello! I am a second year Teach For America corps member teaching high school math in Nashville! While I ultimately plan on pursuing a career in law and public policy, I have a passion for teaching and hope to continue tutoring through graduate school.

Math Qualifications:
I teach Integrated Math 1, which is a combination of Algebra 1 and Geometry. Additionally, I coach the girls and boys tennis teams and tutor many of my older players in Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, and for the ACT. As a second job, I work for Homework Hotline, a free, phone-in tutoring service for students in Tennessee. I tutor middle and high school math and work with Spanish-speaking students, when needed.

Writing/English Qualification:
In college, I minored in journalism and legal studies and held positions as both the News Editor and Features Editor for our campus newspaper. I am a strong writer and have experience guiding high school students through the writing process and editing high school and university papers.

Services:
I tailor each tutoring session to address students’ specific needs. This might mean answering questions students have from class work, preparing a lesson to develop a conceptual understanding of current or future class content, or working ahead of your class by teaching lessons on new material and assigning problems. All tutoring preparation is included in the cost of the tutoring session. Additionally, I understand that students might have questions outside of a scheduled session! To address this, I accept questions via text message, which I respond to with hints to help the student move in the right direction. I keep track of any minutes spent answering text questions and submit one charge at the end of each week.

Thank you for reading my profile! After teaching 9th graders for two years, I have developed a great amount of patience and understand how challenging math and writing can be at times! I love helping my students develop a growth mindset and a positive attitude toward the productive struggle, and I loo

Excellent Instruction

We think Charlotte is patient and enjoys teaching. My grandson looks forward to the lesson because she is doing great in filling in the pieces of where he left off due to the virus. He will be ready for 9th grade and there will be no stress.

Knowledgeable, Affordable and Patient tutor

She is teaching me Algebra I. She takes her time to explain everything to me and doesn't get upset when I ask her to review the question again or repeat the explanation.
