My greatest passion in life is teaching. I experienced great success at school due to amazing and unforgettable teachers. This is the foundation of my commitment to helping out my students, whatever their abilities may be. I have been tutoring and teaching for 3 years in various settings – tutoring small and large groups, private individual tutoring, and teaching in rural, suburban, and urban classroom and home settings.
I work at Kumon Math and Reading Center for about 3 years. I tutor kids in both math and reading that are in elementary school to high school. Math ranges from elementary school math to Calculus BC. I am proud Kumon graduate finishing all of Calculus in 9th grade. I had the opportunity to be a teacher assistant at my high school. I was an assistant to Algebra teacher. I was lucky to have experience teaching a whole class or groups of students in office hours.
As a tutor, my job is to help a learner achieve their academic goals and guide them through their academic struggles. It truly is rewarding when you physically get to see how your efforts helped improve a learner’s mark on a test or report. The smile you get to see on your learner’s face as to how proud they are of themselves is really all the matters at the end of the day. I have learnt how to be myself through teaching. I don’t have to always know it all and be the ambassador of the subject. I love teaching because your learners want to feel as if you are both going through this journey together. You are helping them achieve something they want and the journey is much more important than the destination. I prefer one-on-one tutoring and enjoy engaging my students with fun and challenging math problems. I like to apply math to real world situations to allow my students to fully understand the relevance and necessity of knowing and using math in their everyday lives.
