Disclaimer: To each of you who have decided to review my profile, I thank you very much in advance for taking the time to do so!

Out of respect to you for reviewing my profile, however, I must advise that I do not provide tutoring for specific applications, programs, class assignments, class projects, nor do I accept one-time tutoring session requests.

All of my prospective students are individuals currently preparing for their CompTIA A+, Network+, Security +, or Cisco's CCNA, (ISC)2's SSCP, or the Google IT Support Professional certifications and require extra tutoring/guidance to ultimately pass their specific exam. Sessions tend to be recurring as a result.

Therefore, if you are not seeking exam prep tutoring for any of the aforementioned IT disciplines, it will not be necessary for you to submit a request for tutoring with me. I wish you nothing but good fortune, in finding the right tutor, to match your IT learning needs.

Thank you!

Warmest Regards,
Terry W.
CompTIA-IT Tutor

Hello, my name is Terry!

A dedicated and loving husband, family man, and a true "Tech Geek" to my core.

I have been a 13+ year veteran Senior Technical Support Advisor with Apple Inc, with over 20+ years overall professional IT experience in the Microsoft arena and 9 years working as a professional network technician.

Working nearly full time as an IT Computer Tutor with over 12 years tutoring, I have had the pleasure of educating computer users from all walks of life from ages 17 to 92! (True fact!)

At present, I provide intensive tutoring to those of you who are seeking to enter the IT arena as a new career or to step up your current IT career in Helpdesk, Network Administration or IT Security.

As an experienced CompTIA-IT tutor, I now focus on helping students prepare for either their CompTIA A+ (220-1001-1002), CompTIA Network+ (N10-007) or CompTIA Security + SY0-501 exam preparation.

So look no further- help has arrived!

More recently, I have also begun accepting students who are preparing for their CCNA 220-125 ( Routing and Switching), (ISC)2 - SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner), or Google IT Support Professional certification exams.

When I am not busy tutoring, I spend some of my time studying for my CTT+ CompTIA Technical Trainer certification exam with focus on completing the Virtual Classroom Training portion of the certification )quite a major undertaking within itself!)

Finally, I specialize in helping a wide range of students who are not only pursuing their CompTIA certifications but are individuals who have learning differences they may feel might be hindering their chance of success in passing their exams.

Not so!

For some of my students who have Asperger's, ADHD, Anxiety-based conditions to name a few, I believe in being highly proactive, adaptive and very supportive to tutoring my students with these learning differences, as I can truly relate and understand their conditions more than words can say, and I am honoured to be able to use my skills and experience to do so!

It is absolutely priceless to me, whenever I can share my time-honoured IT knowledge and expertise with all my students. I also tell each and every one of my students when they first start with me the same truth every time: "If you don't succeed, I don't succeed and to me... that's just unacceptable."

So I am committed to your success from start to finish.

As a cross-platform tech (Mac and Windows), I also work as an independent Professional IT Contractor, working on various Windows-based and Networking contracts for over 50 different companies, from large firms to big-box retail stores and restaurants.

Finally, I believe learning should be fun as well as intuitive and empowering to all who seek to expand their overall IT knowledge.

So I always strive to keep an open mind, as long as each student has a willingness to learn --- and the rest will follow!

Networking (Computer)

Networking (Computer)

My experience, knowledge and hands-on expertise with the planning, installation configuration and troubleshooting of Ethernet and wireless networks has been an integral part of my IT career for over 18+ years. I started as a freelance IT Network Technician however, in 1999, while working for CompUSA, troubleshooting Internet and network connectivity issues for residential consumers. I did not start supporting larger networks, however, until after I graduated with a AS in Information Technology from NTC (Northwestern Technical College), certified as CompTIA A+ , Certified Novell Administrator, and fully trained in MSA/MCSE full networking protocols and certification domains in 2004. Despite not taking the certification exams for the MCSE and LSA (which were paid for already), I have since from 2005 to present day, been working for Apple Inc., and continuing to provide network troubleshooting as a Network & Low Voltage Technician installations and services for residential LAN as well as enterprise-based WAN and WLAN networks. I am skilled and experienced in performing: Cat5e/Cat6 Ethernet data cabling, Wireless Fidelity (WiFI) network support; broadband coaxial cabling; wireless A/V multimedia network support; security camera (CCTV) network installation and troubleshooting, and troubleshooting and repairing telephony 66/110 block wiring services. Due to an excellent technical networking portfolio, I'm presently contracted with over 50 client companies to date. In 2012, one of my company-clients, selected me to receive FBI-Homeland Security Clearance under their banner to support one of their largest federal clients, the General Services Administration (GSA), in order to have the security clearance required to provide network and server support and installation services to their offices in Greater Sacramento, California and the Bay Area. Incidentally, I've also been awarded free complete courseware to certify for the vendor-neutral CompTIA Net+ and Security + certifications for which I am currently working to complete. Finally, since March 2017, I'm still receiving more invitations from newer companies to contract with them, just from my CompTIA A+, Certified Novell Administrator, Apple certified MT and Mac Associates credentials, not to mention and a growing Network IT career portfolio. Although I have worked hard and am dedicated toward continuing a very good track record in this technology discipline, I have joined Wyzant, to tutor new and intermediate students on general Internet and WiFi troubleshooting in their own home networks, what network peripherals are and how to use them, standard network terminology (in accordance with 802.11 a,b,n and dual-band IEEE conventions), Bluetooth, VoIP setup and more.

Security+ SY0-501

In our first meeting, we talked like old friends. Instant connection. He was able to pick up how I absorb information and provided an action plan on how to tackle this Security+. He’s patient, attentive and excellent communicator. He does a great job eliminating the “fluff” in the textbooks right to the point of understanding. Terry does a wonderful job helping me stay organized and excited to do homework. I’m looking forward to this journey and looking forward to my leaving an updated review after I pass this exam!!!

Conscientious, Flexible, and Knowledgeable

Terry is helping shore up my knowledge base to prepare for the Comptia Security+ exam, and has been phenomenal to interact with. He is more than happy to meet students where they are regardless of experience, and puts emphasis on the communicative aspects of tutoring. The wealth of resources and links he provides for extracurricular study are also immensely helpful.
