Arizona State University (Biochemisry)
I graduated from Arizona State University (ASU) in 2010 with a degree in biochemistry (medicinal chemistry) and have 6 years of post graduate work in the sciences. My work experience ranges from a biotech startup producing biofuel and other products from algae to performing academic pharmaceutical research for a local university. While at ASU I was a teaching assistant and a tutor in the chemistry department.
Currently I am in the process of applying to graduate school to obtain my PhD and helping students better learn their course material will not only benefit them but also myself in my future endeavors. Within the next year I hope to be accepted into a graduate program.
I have a natural troubleshooting and problem solving ability. If I run into a roadblock I can easily overcome it. Math is all about patterns and seeing trends.
I was a tutor/TA at ASU in the department of chemistry and biochemistry. My subjects of interest include general chemistry, biochemistry, organic chemistry, and medicinal chemistry (advanced organic and pharmacology).
I have had a Mac/Apple computer for the last 10 years and have experience working for Apple in both their sales department and technical support roles.
If you are interested in learning more about using Apple products, improving your grades in your science and math classes I'd be happy to help out! I'm an energetic person who is good at making the complicated less so through easy-to-understand analogies. Brian reviewed lesson plan and brought materials with him to go over with my daughter so she felt confident in herself before her exam.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Graduated with a degree in Medicinal Chemistry from ASU, worked as a tutor/TA and have worked in the biotech/academic industry for the last 6 years. I have a solid base of mathematics and the physical sciences.
I believe I am qualified to teach Macintosh basics as I have been an Apple employee for over 5 years. My journey with Apple started as a sales associate (specialist) and I am now a technician for Apple at the Genius Bar. I have also owned Apple products for 8+ years.
