I have taught these subjects in the Gilbert and Phoenix Union districts. I have earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Systems Science and Mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis. I have graduate courses in Mathematics and Science from both Arizona State and Northern Arizona Universities.

Prior to becoming a high school teacher, I was an Aerospace Engineer with McDonnell Douglas Corporation in St. Louis and Mesa.

I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring Mathematics, Physics and Computer Programming. I can clearly explain the concepts and problem solving steps needed to ensure success in these courses which are so critical for success.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Discrete Math

I have taken graduate level discrete math and number theory classes. These are actually my favorite mathematics topics for self study and I continue to work in each. I've been working through the problems at Project Euler.net and many are discrete math problems solvable with either a short program or some analysis. The high school level integrated mathematics classes I taught in the Gilbert Public Schools had a substantial discrete mathematics component.

Linear Algebra

My undergraduate degree is in Systems Science and Mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis. The program is substantially an applied mathematics program in mathematical systems theory which has a strong linear algebra component.

Precalculus

I am a retired mathematics, physics and computer programming teacher with Arizona State certifications in all three subjects. I have many years teaching experience and can help you understand the concepts and how to apply them to effective problem solving!
