About Jacqueline

I have been an elementary school teacher since 2008. I took opportunities each school year to change grade levels to see which grade I liked the best. I have taugh full-time in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th grades. I truly loved something about all of them! Throughout each year, I worked hard to perfect working in small groups to help all student achieve their academic and personal goals.

Currently, I am a part-time substitute teacher. I chose to take a break so I could be home with my own children. I am finding that I miss teaching a lot! Tutoring is another great way to stay connected with the students.

I received a minor in mathematics during my undergraduate program in New York. I work hard at making real-life connections for all math topics along with explaining concepts in a variety of ways to help students make connections between concepts.

Each school year I worked hard to improve my reading teaching skills in order to help my students continue to grow. I also received a variety of trainings from phonics, to decoding skills, letter/sound recognition, and reading strategies.

I worked with 2 different grade levels (3rd from 2013-2014 and 2nd in 2014) while unwrapping and understanding the new common core standards. This allowed me to see how the common core standards are connected from one grade level to the next.

I have full-time teaching experience in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th grades. I have also don't a long-term leave replacement in 5th grade and I have been a substitute teacher in k-6 school settings.

My hours are very flexible, especially on early release days. I am a dedicated teacher and am determined to help you succeed.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
