I have a Masters degree from Western Illinois University. I have tutored many students in the past with proven success. I have found that students who struggle with math need the 1 on 1 attention that tutoring provides. It is evident that students who struggle in math often have gaps in the curriculum, which prevent them from connecting the sequential concepts. Tutoring provides the opportunity for students to grasp the connections from one concept to the next. I love being able to help students understand the missing components to bridge the gap in their learning. Thus allowing them to be successful, improve their self esteem, and progress with their math skills. Furthermore, it is very rewarding when a student no longer requires my aid, and can independently perform the skills necessary to be successful.
With 30+ years of experience teaching math I understand how challenging and frightful it can be. I find that with dedication and hard work, students can be successful not only in math, but in life as well. Therefore, I like to challenge my students, for measured growth and understanding in Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry. It is my goal to equip students with the knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts so they will never need help again.
I look forward to hearing from you so I can help you become successful! I have a Masters degree from Western Illinois University. I have tutored many students in the past with proven success. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
