Northern Arizona University (History)
I have been a middle school teacher for the previous four years. Subjects taught include science, social studies, reading, mathematics, and writing. I began my career teaching the English language to children overseas in the Republic of Korea, better known as South Korea. When I returned to Arizona, I was lucky to find that my passion for educating would have an outlet at an K-8 school in Central Phoenix. As I have continued to improve my practice of teaching, I have also deepened my love for helping students success in both school and life in general by providing prudent guidance. My students have been the true joy of my career. Seeing them as they leave my classes and go on to better the lives for themselves and their families through the love of education that I have helped foster inside them is one of the main reasons that I see no end in sight for my teaching career.
I always find it useful for students to constantly challenged in their work and constantly being pushed to harder concepts and skills when they have shown mastery of any requisite work. This ensures that the student is never complacent and is always learning something new.
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Northern Arizona University. I am also currently a history and social studies teacher. Before this year, I had been teaching science, math, and English language arts at Magnet Traditional School in Central Phoenix. Likewise, I have been involved in the politics of teaching at the local, state, and national level which gives me unique insight into the political process of the United States.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I studied Latin for four years in both college and high school. My coursework in college included courses in Greek Art History, Roman and Greek history and the political systems of Mediterranean antiquity. I also have spent time visiting the ancient Greek and Roman cite that are current being excavated in Italy, Greece, and the Near East.
I have taught elementary school for four years. I received a passing score on the AEPA 01 Elementary Education Exam for the State of Arizona. I have taught elementary math, science, social studies, and ELA for the four years that I have been teaching.
