I am a Japanese language major and university graduate with a passion for languages and understanding of Japanese up to the intermediate 400 college level. As of now I aspire to study abroad in improve my fluency, and am considering a career as a translator or language teacher.
As an adolescent, translating Japanese to English was a source of enjoyment and a hobby I still practice. I attended four years of college-level Japanese language courses and attended a Japanese-English conversation club. Two years ago, I volunteered for a 3-hour Japanese language Corpus Research Project which tested my knowledge of reading, writing, listening and speaking.
My tutoring experience is as follows: I conducted many study groups with other JPN language students for the purpose of understanding course material better. During my senior year I tutored basic Japanese grammar, reading, and writing to students looking to improve their Japanese ability. For each lesson I incorporated and organized helpful information from my textbooks. I also used detailed explanations to bring students to a deeper understanding of the learning material. Last, I am familiar with various electronic and academic resources to aid in studying Kanji, Japanese grammar and vocabulary.
Given my goals, academics and professional experience, I have developed the necessary qualifications to aid students in learning many aspects of the Japanese language.
