About Dalton

NOTE: I am currently looking for college students and other students who can meet before 3pm on weekdays. My schedule is full for weekdays after 3 and weekends.

I recently graduated with a Master's degree in biomedical engineering from Arizona State University, and am in the middle of a year off before continuing in a doctoral program. I have experience in all areas of math and science, particularly physics, chemistry, biology, and any math course.

Specifically, I was an in-class math tutor for over a year, and have been tutoring independently for about three years. While working in these positions, I have developed a method for tutoring that engages the student in actively learning and understanding the material. This enables the student to complete the task at hand as well as prepare for upcoming tests and quizzes that will require comprehension of the material.

I am also offering tutoring in guitar performance. I have been playing guitar, both electric and acoustic, for about five years. I can teach chords, scales, basic music theory, and improvisational skills.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Calculus

A+ in all calculus levels, 4 years of calculus tutoring experience

Differential Equations

I took differential equations at Arizona State a few years ago and earned an A+. I have also used methods from the course in various engineering and physics courses. Transport phenomena (essentially thermofluids) and quantum mechanics particularly required knowledge of and practice with differential equations. I have also tutored it occasionally, on a limited basis.
