I graduated the University of Bucharest, Romania, in 1977 with a Bachelors degree in Education. I would like to be a tutor because I am aware there is a need for help out there for students who struggle with their homework. I would like to offer my help in order for them to overcome the frustration that comes along with their difficulties and their individualized needs. I am thrilled when I see my students make progress and show growth with their set goals. Everybody should have a chance to a good life, as independent as possible. All behaviors represent a need, need that has to be addressed and approached accordingly; all people, no matter what, have a certain skill that makes a difference in his/her life. That skill has to be identified, developed, improved, refined and, with encouragement and positive thinking, success is around the corner.
I have two sons who did great in life. I am very proud of them, and I think I did a great job as a parent. Working with children gives fulfillment to my life, a reason to go to work every day, and make a difference in someone's life. Watching my students grow, become independent and successful with their goals, make me feel accomplished. An adult, a teacher should be a role model, a coach, a mentor, an instructor, a guide, a counselor for the young generation because they represent our future. A teacher has to amend the past, enhance the present and, touch the future - that's how I feel about some of my teachers from my schooling time. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
