About Pete

I have coached for 8 years. I was a 3 sport varsity athlete in high school (football, basketball, and baseball). My senior year in high school the Arizona Athletic Association voted me “All State” free safety and quarterback. I also won the Jimmy Williams Leather Helmet Award for being the toughest player on my team. The players and coaches selected me as the “Most Valuable Player”. I was also selected as the Most Outstanding Physical Education Student at my high school, voted by the faculty. After my senior year in high school, I had numerous D1 football programs offering me a scholarships, most of them to play free safely. But in my heart I wanted to play quarterback. So I was appointed by Senator Jon Kyle to the United States Military Academy at West Point. I accepted the nomination, attended the academy, and played quarterback there for 1 year under coach Bobby Ross before transferring to Northern Arizona University, where I played mostly quarterback, but also played running back, wide receiver and safely.

I can coach adults, kids, and teenagers. I have experience with the positions of Tight End, Strong Safety, Slot Receiver, Outside Linebacker, Inside Linebacker, Full Back, Free Safety, Corner Back, Running Back, Wide Receiver, and Quarterback.

My specialties are: Zone Coverage, Tackling Form, Tackling, Run Blocking, Route Running, Pump Fakes, Play Action, Pass Blocking, Man To Man Coverage, Kickoffs, Jamming, Inside Leverage, Hand Placement, Dropping Back, Catching, Body Position, Footwork, Throwing Mechanics
My Details

I am willing to do group sessions with up to 4 athletes. I will travel up to 25 miles. My sessions typically run for about an hour or a little over.

My session plan is different for every client of mine, but here is a list of some of the things I do for my Quarterback clients:

Basic and advanced footwork development using youth, college and professional concepts; Analysis of the entire throwing motion, and mechanics of all phases of the QB position; Improvement through throwing drills; The why and how of optimized throwing mechanics; Increasing power while decreasing strain; Protecting the arm from injury while throwing harder than ever; Consistent spirals, accuracy and power; A simple wrist adjustment that dramatically boosts rotation; An elbow adjustment that makes profoundly improves quickness of release; Developing confidence and consistency, day in and day out; The composure and mental edge for consistency under pressure; How to self-correct not self-destruct; Strategies for avoiding common mental mistakes; The QB must make a "Pre-Snap Read" confirming the defensive secondary's alignment; Keys to recognizing coverages, and knowing their weaknesses; and Accelerating decision making to 3 reads in less than 3 seconds.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I played baseball all through HS and currently coach at a HS.
