I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Mathematics in 2012 and completed a Masters in Educational Psychology with an Applied Behavior Analysis Certificate in 2018. During my time at UT I student-taught middle school aged students, took a directional class specializing in children's learning through play, and spent a summer teaching at an engineering summer camp. I taught high school math for 4 years and am currently completing my BCBA fieldwork with SEEK Arizona. My experience includes clinical, in-home, and remote parent and staff training for children that have been diagnosed with psychological disorders, as well as children on the Autism Spectrum. My work interests include early intervention programs, integrative practices, and applying ABA procedures in less explored areas, specifically in the practice of yoga. My passions lie within math, teaching, and helping children.

My love for teaching and math stems back to my childhood. The first memory I have involving math, as a child, is anxiously waiting for my father to get home from work to play "games" with me; little did I know, these "games" were multiplication tables, math tricks, and math problems that I was racing against my father to solve. To this day I still think of math as a game. I'd be the happiest girl in the world if I could problem-solve and crunch numbers all day. I love all branches of math and have been very successful at breaking it down to make it easier for anyone to understand.

Many people, from children to adults, squirm at the mere thought of math; my goal is to break that learning barrier down with positive energy, all the while, breaking the material down and presenting it in a way my students can relate to and understand.

"Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement, nothing can be done without hope and confidence." -- Helen Keller

Alongside my love for working with children, I have taken classes specializing in teaching elementary math and children's learning through play. I have also taught at an elementary engineering camp and worked with children in other summer camps. Currently, I am a Vision Therapist helping children improve visual abilities using individually prescribed procedures and special lenses to train the eyes and the brain to work together more effectively.

Alongside my love for working with children, I have taken classes specializing in teaching elementary math and children's learning through play. I have also taught at an elementary engineering camp and worked with children in other summer camps. As a child, I grew to love math simply because I thought it was a game; I was never told it was hard or that I was bad at it. While tutoring, I not only focus on teaching my students math, I focus on building their want to learn, as well as, their confidence. Now that I am older, I want everyone to love math as much as I do. It is very rewarding and vital subject and can be extremely fun!

SAT Math,

SAT Math

Although I specialize and focus on math, I have worked successfully with my students to improve their SAT math, grammar, and reading scores. I recommend starting SAT Prep at least 4 months before the scheduled test date; this will give us enough time to master the basics, building a solid foundation of the SAT objectives, and leave us enough time to incorporate helpful tactics to use during the test. I start each student with an assessment, in which I am able to find the SAT objectives the students needs to work on most. I also provide my students with practice tests every 2-4 weeks to assess progress and adjust program as needed.

Effective sessions!

Our daughter, as well as her dad & I, were quite pleased with her test grade in Business Algebra. With just a few sessions, the outcome was very encouraging!

Very helpful, patient, and guiding!

While my daughter normally does excellent in all classes, she has struggled all year with Algebra. We tried the get help and additional homework from the teacher, but none of it helped. As a concerned parent I wanted an expert, someone who "knew their stuff". I researched many different tutors and options, Somewhere either too busy to help or never responded to our request's. When Carol responded promptly, and came back with questions of the challenges my daughter was faced with, I was immediately impressed. Carol also took it to a new level, asking me to send her copies of my daughters previous tests before ever meeting her, and asked us to be sure to bring her Algebra book to her tutoring session. Carol spent just a few moments with me (parent) when we first met, and that is just fine. She really impressed both my daughter and I by just jumping right into what she had done in the past and what was working well for her. After my daughters first session with Carol, she was more engaged than she had been before, and after her second session was the first time all year I heard my daughter tell me she was ready for her next quiz. Thank you Carol for helping my daughter, and building her confidence. She just needed someone to work with her, and guide her.

Knowledgeable

Carol was very helpful and knowledgeable. She helped me with the first assignment and now I have a better understanding of the material. I needed the one on one. I feel more confidence now after our first session. I look forward to working with her again, to help me clarify terms and other functions.

Great Stats 1 tutor

Carol is a great tutor who really knows her way around the subject. On a typical day we go over past quizzes and homework and she is good at clearing things up.

Very patient and easy to understand!

I really enjoyed my tutoring session with Carol. Carol is very prompt and quick at responding to your request for tutoring. We went through statistic case study questions and she was very helpful. If I did not understand something Carol was willing to explain again and have me do the examples so that way I could apply and learn. I look forward to meeting with Carol again. I would definitely recommend her to other classmates.

Carol began working with my daughter about 6 weeks ago helping to prep her for the SAT. Carol quickly picked up on where my daughter needed help and has adjusted her tutoring accordingly. She is patient and genuinely interested in my daughter’s success. Carol has developed a nice bond with my daughter fostering productive tutoring sessions. I'm looking forward to our continued relationship.
