Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I am an accounting major at ASU. I have been a T.A. for 2 College Algebra classes at ASU for the past 2 semesters, and will continue to be one for the next 2 years until I graduate. I explain things thoroughly and will not move on to a new topic until I am sure you understand the topic at hand. I can provide examples and additional practice problems where necessary. I am outstanding in math and algebra. I know trigonometry and geometry pretty well. A little review in these areas will bring me right back to my high school honors roll form. I have received an A+ in Brief Calculus and an A in Math for Business Analysis (next level of Calculus) at ASU. I know my math skills will help you with whatever you are struggling with. Thank you for your consideration.

Algebra 2

I am in my 4th semester as a teaching assistant for College Algebra at ASU. I have helped dozens of students excel in algebra and prepared them for the next level of math. This ongoing experience has continuously improved my skills as a teacher and tutor. I have the outstanding ability to teach students in a way so they not only excel on tests, but learn the material for future use. Thank you for your consideration of my qualifications.

I have been playing baseball for most of my life. The most important task to developing into a great baseball player is learning solid fundamentals. Next, is always having your head in the game and thinking about the situation at hand. By doing these 2 things, most mental and physical errors can be avoided. Play smart and have fun!

Elementary Math

I have a natural ability with numbers and math. I also am very good at conveying this to others who struggle in this area. I have been a teaching assistant for the past 2 years at ASU for College Algebra and my reviews from students have always been outstanding. I am a patient person with excellent morals and values. I make sure that I am thorough with all my students, since math is a subject that always builds upon the topics previously covered. I am confident that I can prepare any student for future success in any math class.

Study Skills

Organization and time management is the key to learning proper study skills. Once you have had someone experienced in these areas show how to do this, it will help a student in all future endeavors. Study skills are important for school, but equally important in all career choices and large purchasing decisions. I would like to share my experience and expertise in this area.

Fantastic tutor! — We feel extremely fortunate to have found James. Our son connected with him immediately. He is a very kind and patient individual with a love of teaching. For him, teaching is a calling. Our son meets with him weekly (and looks forward to it) and his algebra grade went from a D to an A within a week of their first meeting. We could not recommend him more highly! ...
