I returned to school at ASU in the Fall of 2009 to pursue my dream of being a CPA. I was a teaching assistant in College Algebra at ASU for 4 semesters. My current GPA at ASU is 3.84.
I have exceptional mathematical skills. I have an outstanding ability to explain things to my students. I am patient and knowledgeable. I am capable of tutoring Elementary Math, Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry. I was an honor student in high school excelling in both Math and Chemistry. I went on to get a 4 year degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Marketing.
I enjoy teaching others math. I am friendly and easy to understand. I will be an outstanding tutor for your student. Thank you for giving me the opportunity. I am so impressed with you ! Not only have you be working increase Madison's understanding of the material and helping her catch up. But she has this new sense of feeling confident in Algebra 4 that is just outstanding !! Madison texted me yesterday with an Excited text that said - "Guess What?!!! I got an "A" on my algebra test !!!!!! Helping her to catch up on home work was why we reached out. Keeping her on track so she can pass this class was our ultimate goad as this junior Algebra grade is really important to us for college. But I have to say....The confidence you are giving her that "she can so this" is something that we find priceless!
My son really enjoys working with James. He explains the math in ways that my son understands. I am happy we found him.
James is a patient tutor, and works well with my son! He comes prepared, and is on top of his assignments for his class!
James worked with my daughter on Math to pass her GED. Math has been very difficult for her all through high school. James was very patient and worked with her on specific types of problems she would see on the test. He also worked with her on test taking skills to help her keep from getting nervous and overwhelmed. When she took her GED test, she passed on her first try. Thanks to James, my daughter can now feel a sense of confidence and accomplishment to move on to other aspects of her life.
James is very helpful and makes tutor time fun. I feel much more confident when doing math and it's all thanks to James.
I struggled to understand math problems for weeks and just could not get the hang of it. After just a few lessons with James, I finally caught on. I could not have accomplished my goal of learning the segments of math and continue to the next segments without a tutor like James. His patience and understanding was essential to my learning.
I don't know the specifics since I am not in the same room with James and my son. But what I do know is that Alex thinks he is an excellent tutor. James works with Alex in a way that the Algebra is understood. Any kind of math has always been Alex's worst subject, and has put off taking college math for 3 years. Now he seems to be doing much better than anticipated. James has given Alex the knowledge and confidence to succeed with college Algebra.
James is very patient with my boys. Particularly my one son who is struggling more. He explains the material at his level in a way that my son understands. He genuinely cares about the child's success. He takes what he does to heart.
Helped to bring the concepts back into focus, and explained clearly and visually the way to break down the problems.
James is helping me to review different aspect of math up to advance algebra so that I can better my chance of tapping into College Math 112 directly.
Patient and knowledgeable. He will keep working until he solves the problem and always lets me know how he did it.
James listened and delivered. He taught my son (and me) some strategies to help make multiplication easier to grasp.
He improved my sons skills in math (algebra) and helped him to understand the material after he had failed the course twice already. Always keeping us updated and taking the time to send us email about my sons performance!
I really enjoy working with him as he is kind, patient, and professional. Thanks to his instruction, my cumulative grade was 97.5! I highly recommend him to anyone struggling with algebra!
We feel extremely fortunate to have found James. Our son connected with him immediately. He is a very kind and patient individual with a love of teaching. For him, teaching is a calling. Our son meets with him weekly (and looks forward to it) and his algebra grade went from a D to an A within a week of their first meeting. We could not recommend him more highly!
I am a student and work full-time, and James was able to work with my schedule easily. I'm in college algebra and did my best to be prepared before meeting with James. This helped immensely but was not necessary at all. James makes sure he helps you go through your math the proper way from A-Z
He was very patient and worked with me at my own pace. He explained and went over things until it clicked with me. He was easy to reach and was prompt and professional. I will definitely use him again, when I need help for my next math course. I would recommend that others use James if they need any help in Math.
We had tried a few other tutors that were recommended by friends, with minimal results. James' ability to explain things to my son far exceeded any other tutor we have tried! My son came away smiling and excited instead of grumpy. Best tutoring money we have ever invested! Highly recommended!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am an accounting major at ASU. I have been a T.A. for 2 College Algebra classes at ASU for the past 2 semesters, and will continue to be one for the next 2 years until I graduate. I explain things thoroughly and will not move on to a new topic until I am sure you understand the topic at hand. I can provide examples and additional practice problems where necessary. I am outstanding in math and algebra. I know trigonometry and geometry pretty well. A little review in these areas will bring me right back to my high school honors roll form. I have received an A+ in Brief Calculus and an A in Math for Business Analysis (next level of Calculus) at ASU. I know my math skills will help you with whatever you are struggling with. Thank you for your consideration.
I am in my 4th semester as a teaching assistant for College Algebra at ASU. I have helped dozens of students excel in algebra and prepared them for the next level of math. This ongoing experience has continuously improved my skills as a teacher and tutor. I have the outstanding ability to teach students in a way so they not only excel on tests, but learn the material for future use. Thank you for your consideration of my qualifications.
I have been playing baseball for most of my life. The most important task to developing into a great baseball player is learning solid fundamentals. Next, is always having your head in the game and thinking about the situation at hand. By doing these 2 things, most mental and physical errors can be avoided. Play smart and have fun!
I have a natural ability with numbers and math. I also am very good at conveying this to others who struggle in this area. I have been a teaching assistant for the past 2 years at ASU for College Algebra and my reviews from students have always been outstanding. I am a patient person with excellent morals and values. I make sure that I am thorough with all my students, since math is a subject that always builds upon the topics previously covered. I am confident that I can prepare any student for future success in any math class.
Organization and time management is the key to learning proper study skills. Once you have had someone experienced in these areas show how to do this, it will help a student in all future endeavors. Study skills are important for school, but equally important in all career choices and large purchasing decisions. I would like to share my experience and expertise in this area.
